for your candles not to show through change from candlestick to barchart at top of page.

when you have what you want go to chart: template: save template

Here's what I did...

Right click on your platform's icon and select "Run As Administrator." Once it is opened, it should automatically alert you of a live update. Run the live update, close your platform, and then reopen your platform as you normally would. Once you open it, click on the "about" tab to see if it was updated.

Thanks for the info. Always wanted to know how to do that.

In your MT4 click on "help" then "about", your build number will be there. Top of your screen.

Normally MT4 will alert you to a new version, if it hasn't you'll probably have to check your broker and see what version they are currently running, If they have 419 you'll have to do a download and reinstall, you'll also have to set up your indicators again though.

Watching this thread also, I like the easy stuff ^_^ I'm using heiken ashi with levels and a stochastic myself at this time.

IBFX Aus haven't upgraded their platform to latest build yet. Try another broker like Alpari

I am so sorry to ask again, but I have put the mq4 file in experts>indicators and still do not get arrows. The mq4 file just shows as a text file but doesn't show up in indicators and doesn't execute.

I am sure I am an idiot, but if anyone could help me understand what I am doing wrong, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Hadley

remove the file.

download new one from my first post.

put it in experts:indicators

then start up your MT4 and see if that works, the arrows are basicaly CCI set at 45 when it crosses over.

Still no go.

I'm updated to v419 of metatrader. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the file being an mq4txt rather than an exe4

There's a way to convert mq's to exe's in meta-editor but i'm pretty unsophisticated and couldn't make it work when I followed the directions.

I did do exactly what you said- deleted, installed to experts>indicators but it doesn't show up in my indicators file and the only thing i can think of is that i's the MQ4 extension.

Maybe eventually someone geekier than me will read this and save the idiot! ;-)

Meanwhile I set the CCI at 45 and made the zero line yellow and am using vertical lines. We'll see how that goes!

I greatly appreciate your efforts, and your willingness to share and help.

Thank you!
Hadley

Hi txt file is not good i think. Try not to take from the thread post but take from the paperclip on top right. This i know to work sometimes with this error.

driftwoods suggest is what i was going to suggest next. sometimes taking the indi straight from the post for some reason leads to faults. go to paperclip on the top right corner where the page number is and download from there. thanks driftwood

i've been semi paper trading and demo running this now since the 20th (not long). and before i throw out my piece of paper that i've been scribbling down the entries and possible exits i seen down i thought i'd post them here..this is not super accurate, just the entries i picked up looking at the chart.
first number is the SL size (often i've included a couple of pips for spread and 1 pip over entry) the last number is possible/max take profit (before it drops again and gets another entry). pretty simple cross and drag stuff.

8-32, 22-43, 10-17, (choppy 4am losses 7 and 10) 20-28,12-16,13-18,9-36,11-8,19-41,10-18,7-37,8-29,12-20,20-32, 8 loss, 17-23,22-40

we've been fairly trending, which is what this systems about. this is EU (don't see the point of doing more then 1 or 2 pairs, if you can't make it work on 1 you ain't going to on others). see if you can KIND OF replicate what i got as it's rough.

I've figured out the problem with the crashing. It's the Fxultra Trend indicator. Replace with the one i've uploaded & your good to go I'm running the 409 metatrader version with no problem now .
Attached File
File Type: mq4 FXUltraTrend.mq4   4 KB | 926 downloads

possibly Kfx I only been checking as i've been running (no back checking). how far did you go back? did you only check the 15m trades in the 4hr direction? it's possible late march was flat, as with any trend following system this would lead to some false signals.

Just from march to now ... And yes, looking at 15m and following the trend in 4h.

I think some days in March and April, some banks close. Maybe this is the reasons of false signals. Low liquidity.

i've had a quick look from March 20 to end of March (buys only) and there are a few losses, these are small and often happen through early Asian session. I feel the wins potential is far greater. again, just a quick scan as i prefer to realtime test.
just a note: If i get an arrow for my entry my sl goes to the bottom of the arrow (it tends to add about 2-3pips on)
