It's a great article anyway, I think it reflects the stages a trader go through very well. At least my progress, I don't know for sure about anyone else.

I am a beginner my self, but I'd say whatever you do don't fall for the marketing of people trying to sell you trading systems etc. It's just BS.

Yes it is. But if one really thought that it was helpful and truly wanted to incorporate it, they'd then go looking for the source material which is NLP. Which is why I keep saying it.

One of my university professors was a NLP practitioner, and by talking to him I have considered looking into it. Another useful resource is the book Trading In The Zone, after I read it I felt like I was trading on a totally different level straight away.

(I'm guessing you mean neuro-linguistic programming when you talk about NLP?)

Hello FxFctry people. Based on the title of this thread, I think this fits.

I have decided to spend the next 5 years, and at least 10,000 hrs to learn this trade. (pun intended)...
Over the last 26 years, I have mastered two things well; Professional Musician, and Plumbing contracting. They both took at least 10,000 hrs to learn well, and the learning never stops. The daunting challange of forex study begins at 3:25am for me, and I have five hrs a weekday to read/study/trade, two hrs/day on the weekends. I do not plan on taking any withdrawls from my trading account during that time, but I do expect to gain a solid base of knowledge and hopefully wisdom. Learning from reading works well for me. This is month #3.

This is more of a statement of my plan and expectation, to hold myself accountable. Thanks for listening.

I've enjoyed the gems some on this forum selflessly offer, and look foward the journey!

In my opinion it takes no less then a year to be a quite successful forex trader, maybe more 2 or 3 years

well it takes a while, it depends on your motivation, dedication and many factors, your background knowledge of the market and even on people around you sometimes, if you have got some friends who are actually successful trading or even some relative, thats a big plus of course if they have the will to help you out.

it's hard to say how long. many people are never successful in this market.

learn the skills first, find a good broker, test and improve, never take it as a gamble.

yes you can't say how long, even traders with long experiences cannot call their self successful..Just don't give up for challenges and never stop educating one's self..
