Thank you very much for this reply. It means alot to me, as stupid as that is ,too clarify this matter. I would like to share as much as possible the things that I write but somedays(ex Today) it can really seem like more work posting and explaining than it took to write the stupid stuff in the first place.

The Extreme TMA OP is promoting averaging down, which is one of the most dangerous things any trader can do. It's basic knowledge that most people learn in the beginning....

You're not alone though, I expect 95% of people who attempt to become traders have the same problem, they hate to be proved wrong nearly as much as they hate taking a loss!

LOOK guys,dont you understand ,

if you created a recovery on a long time basis,you would have mathematiclly scewered somthing that you would not share with us simpletons

I guess the system is so bleeding edge that no one but the OP and a few noobs are truly able to make it work.

It just won't work without a huge drawdown. You MUST let it go AT LEAST 100 pips against you or you're going to lose all your money.

all i can say is,if you do a simple forward test,maths will defy you,but ,and i say this with ernest,if you can scewer the maths you will be gone from here,

it can be done from a mechaical aproach,

it can be done by a descrecionary aproach,

but,.....................90 % of the traders here havnt understood the basic priniple of price

This thread is THE MOST ENTERTAINING I have ever read on FF. I'm not learning anything concrete, but there are some eloquent writers here and, apparently, experienced traders, and that's worth my time to follow.

Without trying to sound too strident, any non-idiot can tell that LazyPawn's original post was from a detached perspective, meant as an objective, although humorous, observation. My apologies to those who are not non-idiots, because you don't know who you are. Luckily, the rest of us do.

I tried Al's M5 scalping strategy. I even posted there a few times!. (Oh, no, someone is going to call me names for that!) I did it in the MT4 tester exactly according to the rules posted in the manual assembled by Lologo.

Have any of you Al defenders even tried that? Or any other part of his system? Just asking...

Not to put too fine a point on it - the experience was truly crazy. I thought I would get at least a fraction of the results claimed. I expected at least to be break even on my first try, or maybe even positive.

But it was a total bust. I tested one entire week in the MT4 tester. Not even one profitable trade!

This "system" has you entering long at the top of a trend, and short at the bottom!

The TMA Slope "indicator" looks great on a historical chart. But it doesn't give that pretty green center color change entry signal until the very top of the (green) trend. Then, as more bars are added over time, the older bars in the indi start to turn green. Eventually, you have a beautiful chart showing where you should have gotten in. But at the time of that candle, the indi was not green and the signal candle was still 20, 30, or 50 bars away.

I've seen indis that repaint, but never back like 50 bars into the past! Even your entry signal literally disappears in 15-20 bars as the outer and center bands move with the trend!

I'm not here to trash Al or his defenders or support his detractors. I'm just trying get better at trading forex to make some money. This is my experience using his trading rules.

For me, and, I suspect, for anyone who has diligently attempted to follow this strategy, the bottom line is that it just plain doesn't work.

Actually, I agree with you. I just had to amplify your thought for the humor value!

I spend a lot of time with spreadsheets and calculations looking for a mathematical/statistical edge. Haven't found a good one yet. I'm not sure I have the math skills required.

yes,and i could be really corny and say all the more for me,but its not so,our insignifiance is quite clear,

i hate to see people wasting years and money on bullshit,

It's always fun to try new things. I got pretty much the same results you did when I tested TMA a few years back.

Besides the repainting issue, the biggest problem with a centered average is it's the slowest signal you can put on a price chart. So it's useless, especially as an entry/exit tool and has very limited accuracy for identifying pivotal support and resistance.

How far price deviates from the signal lines in a volatile market is amazing. That's why most people abandoned it a while back. It's basically a nicer looking, less functional variation of Bollinger Bands or Donchian Channels.


The only two things anyone ever needs to know about indicators is this. To make them fast enough for proper entry timing on a trade, the curve for false signals rises exponentially, and to slow them down enough to properly filter false signals ensures the entries are too late.

...but they're still fun to play with sometimes.

The Dennis Gartman video should be mandatory viewing for all newbie traders.

It's amazing how many folk believe that it's possible to succeed long term by avoiding the use of stoplosses; by averaging down; and/or by employing some martingale variant.

More mandatory reading for newbies. If I'd known this when I started out, it would have shaved maybe 2 years off my learning curve. Bottom line is that you have to enter at some point, and any indy can be calibrated to get you in as early or as late as you wish. In other words, a completely arbitrary process.
