Ok, i've bucked the trend then, closed my thread, rules unchanged, no elaborate claims of making millions, and everyone positive and no hate mob...

it was actually right what Billbliss said, if it really is a strategy worth learning then it should be done in a few pages...

The James16 thread has stood the test of time, and without any real modifications. Admittedly it's not a mechanical system; rather it's more of a way of 'reading' the market. Perhaps therein lies a clue.

Even more significantly, the thread continues to blossom in the commercial section, and currently has an average vote of 4.02 out of a possible 5 stars. That's an amazing performance, considering the number of trolls, parasites and saboteurs that visit FF, especially the commercial forums.

Some nice posts in this thread, IMO. LazyPawn, HiddenGap and dgcinc in particular. Also forexhard's comment that "The biggest reason why systems change personality to such a wide degree over time, is that they weren't really systems to begin with." Very few people understand the nature of statistical fluctuation. It cuts both ways; for a long time, I didn't, and it sent me system shopping on a futile search for the holy grail.

I've toyed with the idea of starting a thread about what I see as the three main pillars of a profitable forex trading methodology. Not that they are a revolutionary secret; in fact they've all been discussed here many times before, and are evident in threads like DIBS, deadly accuracy, millipede, VSA, no-brainer trades and money flows. What is even better is that all of these concepts are mutually complementary, hence they can be grafted into a very robust discretionary approach. But, unlike forexhard (and others), I'm not willing to risk taking a public bashing, so I'll simply post those links and leave it there.

if we are going to have a love-fest and spam shit in this thread which is not OT, why not pick DarkStar who (unlike some) doesn't suckle on the credit cards of his subscribers each month and makes his money with his own money and knows his shit better than most?

it's right about now that i see a few wannabe's trying to start-up their own sites hoping to milk a few dollars from fools. let's salute those wannabe's as they embark on their journey of sucking-in the noobs. job well done!

No comments regarding James16 thread. I don't see it as a true trading system. To me it looks like a more advanced Babypips school.

However I sincerely hope that you change your mind regarding your own system. Of all the people on FF you are the one that made most sense to me (and I think I read everything you ever posted). It's uncanny how similar your conclusions are to mine on a wide variety of topics (such as technical systems, MM, martingale, common misconceptions etc.). At some point you had lost your faith in any kind of indicator or system, or at least you said that you hadn't found anything working above chance. Did that change?

Anyway ... if you start a trading system thread I promise that I will edit my first post and add "except hanover's thread".
The judgement that you high-nosed people did over Forexhard is wrong.

His BO thread was one of the finest threads I have ever read, and I too feel it gave me and those noobs interested more than just another vulnerable mechanic system. I see this specific pattern work out every single day, its just to be found in a timeframe most people ignore.

Also, combining very small and very big timeframes, I know traders who fabricate trades of a R R ratio that makes it absolutely impossible NOT to make 70% a month. Id really love to know what style and concrete account growth some of the veterans (number of posting wise) here on this board, have to live with.

People, stop wearing your noses so high and concentrate on maximizing not only profit but also knowledge on here, make peace instead of bad laughter.

I haven't looked at babypips for a long time. Agree that Jim doesn't offer a mechanical "system" as such. Unlike Jim, I don't think babypips offers private mentorship.

It's always reassuring to know that there are others who see things similarly to the way that one sees things oneself.

Post #124 is a great example of the reason why I'm reluctant to contribute further on either the trading or programming forums.

Well if you had followed closely the Extreme TMA System thread and saw the debacle, you would understand why this thread was opened especially to ridicule Alorente. The various "references" (e.g. 1000pips per week, 70% for friends, repainting indicators, changing rules) made by the OP was directed at the Extreme TMA System thread and it's so obvious to all who followed him here, the seeds of discord originated there by same OP. But as everyone agreed, the characteristics he prescribed apply to all hot threads that it is entertaining to watch all the similarities with other ego threads.

Don't take the statement about Pandora's Box seriously as it is just a figure of speech, but this topic surely has some people wondering is it me that is being discussed. You know how that goes. Anyway your title is very thought provoking & absolutely eye opening. I have several time followed the same path as you state in the thread & have seen the same results time & again without fail. Anyway you are spot on with your observations. If we would be honest, we have all been down this same path.

Perhaps you can copy and paste exactly where in post ANY of these claims were made in the original post. I suggest you focus on trading....it might offset some of your paranoia

I wrote a draft of the initial post almost a year ago, long before the TMA system started. Then for a while I completely forgot about it. So it's definitely not something aimed at that thread.

As the discussion progressed here I did give some examples from that particular thread, only because they were fresh and good to prove my general point. Nothing more than that. I swear I have nothing against its OP or any of his followers. On the contrary, I hope it lasts long because it has great entertainment value.

bit of a stretch there. rain vindicates that water is wet. understanding market mechanics 101 explains s/r. all i could ever find from j16 was a demand for trading slow timeframes and looking for pinbars, and very little on why it supposedly works or should work into the future.... i would certainly hope that more actual trading 'education' has been added since i last saw, instead of just pushing for newbies to slow-play their trading.

bottom line is that darkstar has posted on here more factual information in just about any one post of his than i have read of j16 in total. darkstar's level of knowledge should be the norm around this joint, not the exception! if it wasn't for some of the other j16 members then i'd flat-out call the j16 group a sweet con, but jim's fortunate that he has friends who do provide some things of actual value. there's certainly potential for one or more of the inner circle to start their own 'thing', if they haven't already done so.

how sweet it must be to sit back and tell everyone to basically not trade until 'the time is right' all the while deducting fees each month while everyone keeps waiting for these so-called a+ trades? for the one getting the fees jim provides the least value of the whole situation. he better be splitting his fees with his inner-circle since they are the ones who seem to provide any actual value.

whatever jim's intentions, good or bad, i find it amusing that people laud over him the way you just did. very misplaced.

so, that's my bran muffin for the day. i'm not saying anything further on the topic since i'm clearly just a so-called 'thread destroyer' out to ruin everyone and everything. hilarious. maybe i just don't swallow shit like it is gravy, say thanks, and then ask for more.

If you're actually making money trading this system, more power to you. Personally, I don't care if the thread is a scam or not.

My only point in posting is this.

In this business, statistical probabilities are central to our success. When testing any system, you need to apply a straight probability formula, Beysian theorem, whatever your preference, to arrive at the proper risk model. The baseline average win ratio is typically 41%, not an assumed 50%. Even the best trading system or best trader in the world won't consistently hit 60%. (do you have any idea how much of an edge that is?)

The last quote posted here basically nullifies the premise that the OP is purely trading a mechanical system, so if people are showing up expecting to replicate his 100% success rate using the system, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

The forums are an interesting study in human behavior and are a lesson why so many people lose. If people can't even do the most basic calculation to know when someone is claiming something impossible, then their personal R:R must be up shit's creek.
