Creating this thread due to the fact no one else wants to believe that VSA is a big part of trading correctly.

Hiya People,

As we can see the PA is going up on a stop hunt to cut all the weak holders of shorts out the market and trap people going long.

At the same time the SM is offloading the rest of there longs and entering short, as price goes higher the volume is dropping off meaning that the SM as less work to do.

...which pair are you looking at and what's SM? What indi are you using for VSA?...please could you explain how the VSA tells you this -

Hiya,

Im looking at EURUSD, but the move im talking abut is happening on Sterling and Aussie too.

SM is the Smart Money, the Big Boys who move the market and take your money off you by cheating you basically.

You use volume, no indicators, but you can use a moving average for the direction of the trend.

I will post the volume i use.

Use a called Dragon from Sonic R system for the trend which is a bunch of moving averages.

Hello andy I am extremely motivated to learn more on VSA as I've been using it for a few weeks now with great results.

I have found the gann hi-low indicator to be superior to any MA when used in conjunction with VSA data, see my thread for more info. I have lots of VSA documentation as well I'll PM you what I have later. Thanks

Yes that would be great hope to work with you in the future on VSA.

I believe i maybe using the dragon in the same way your using Gann, would i be right in saying that.

Using it for Trend direction.

Hye Orions,

Yes the key is to know when to close a position with profit and not have it taken back off you.

The latest move up i used to add to my position which is ok if you know the trend direction and know where its going next lol

Suppose all im doing is what the SM do, and add to their shorts whilst tricking people long etc lol

Hello Andy,

I'm interested in learning and possibly adding VSA to my trading but I really don't know much more than the basics of it. Could you show us how you are using it? What constitutes entering/exiting a position, what are you looking for in terms of volume and price?

More than likely Andy. I also like to use a breakoutbox and the sixths indi for s/r this helps tremendously for identifying trend reversals

I understand. I'll send some video's of the creators of the original VSA software, I have tried to mimic their commercial platform..

Hiya All,

An example.

Right let me start by saying its not easy to read VSA and your dont go by indicators, so its not just, this plus this and this equals i enter here, if you get me.

The example i posted is what your looking for.

Volume Histogram at bottom
Coloured bars that match the volume on the histogram
Moving Average for trend

1. The bottom test area (also a double bottom reversal pattern)
After the Mark Down, the SM start to accumulate to go long this can
take time depending on how much they have to exchange a short
ticket for a long ticket.

2. The red bar before the bottom area starts is a selling climax bar, and this is where the smart money start exchanging shorts for longs, but the herd is still shorting away not knowing.

3. The volume drops off coming towards the blue line and there is not one but two bottom reversals, the market then starts moving long away from the first blue line on higher volume, and by the green bar closing on the high means the SM are wanting to go long.

4. The SM then have to accumulate more and the market drops down towards the second blue line, this is where the herd think oh we are short, but us VSA people know its a trick, the bars are downbars closing off the lows meaning the SM are buying in these bars the volume at this time picks up which is what we need to look for also as the herd are battling the SM this in turn creates the volume.

5. The market moves up and breaks the trend line or moving average, once the volume drops off by the second green bar highlighted this is where i would long from, knowing a move up is beginning.

6. The stop can be below the previous swing low or below last pivot point.

7. You then can ride the market till you see the buying climax bar at the top, the market after this bar comes to a halt as the phase of distribution starts.

I have several PDF's, start by reading vsa basics. Geared toward a commercial platform, but it gets you used to the concepts. The core VSA indicator can be replicated in metatrader.

Here are some various indi's i've come across. Mainly stick to better vol 1.2, but you can see some variations as well. Take a look at the code im not an expert on the differences, besides knowing obviously the session average compares the current candle to the session's average candle instead of the one immediately preceeding. I don't find it useful unless you are trading something highly volatile, maybe its better for lower tf's dont know i stick to higher
