I did try a couple of the freebie rb generators but they seemed to freeze up my mt4 so I gave up with them and bought the one suggested by Medici - the mqlsevice ones.

Personally, I don't really think of it as 'trading the news'. I don't care about the release or the numbers and don't trade the initial reaction anyways. I just wait for that initial nonsense to be out of the way then trade as normal. The release means more volatility and quicker bars, but otherwise it's just doing what I would normally do. I feel most people who think of trading the news or consider it impossible are probably thinking of trading the release data itself, which would be a completely different story.

This thread used to be about trading the European morning session using various discretionary methods. Nowadays we do rule-based range bar trading.

Ah, understood, I have played with range bars from time to time, I will watch for a few days and maybe find my old range bar EA to see how my current analysis method looks on range bars, and also see what charts are posted here, thanks, E.

Just wanted to share a quick scalp I took since I don't take many. The setup is nice enough - a tight cloud with a LL followed by the LH entry. Expectations were low because it is pre-Ben and due to the prior action.

So I let it break 50 (which was also outside the flat M5 BB20) and then took my 10 as soon as it stopped. The M1 doji was enough of a trigger for that, but it was obvious in the RBs as well and loads of tick volume was coming in.

Great minds think alike I took the exact same trade and exited in the same way too.

I don't have them written down as a formal set of rules, but if you read back on the thread a bit you should be able to put the pieces together. Anything before post #3230 not of relevance.

I just wanted to add that I like the idea of not straight out posting "the rules" here or on post one. This is a Trading Journal thread, not Trading Systems. It's all in the thread so a little effort and you can dig out some good stuff. Plus you'll learn a lot more seeing things in action and understanding modifications and changes in thinking along the way than if you just read a set of rules.

Yes, that my unstated philosophy as well. I believe in people doing their own research. In addition, if you're unable to put things together by reading a thread, you are likely to mess it up if given a set of formal rules.
