I signed up with FXCM uk for a spread betting account. Haven't deposited any funds yet. Just wondering are there any better options out there? I'll be depositing about 1000 pounds

You can try Alpari UK. It is also good forex broker for UK.

Yeah Alpari UK also do spread betting, you'll probably find spreads are better with Alpari than with FXCM

I think that spreads betting, just as it sounds, can pull you into pure gambling. If you think you know how to estimate trends, why don’t you do regular forex trading?

GKFX is pretty good, theres only a couple of spread betting companies that support mt4 i think

Requotes and slippage are just a real-life demonstration of the laws of supply and demand.

 Requotes and slippage have been around ever since markets were allowed to float and are a natural consequence of that. If you are trading with the momentum of the market, and therefore by definition in the direction of least liquidity then requotes/slippage are an inescapable fact of life that everyone has to deal with, from the busiest InterBank desks to the smallest retail trader.

 The only current alternatives are DMA Pro accounts in which orders are sent on a Fill or Kill basis where although you can avoid requotes, the risk is not getting a trade in (or out) at your preferred price at all.

prospreads.com offer direct market access and spreads are razor thin, NO REQUOTES trading ladder etc.

MT4 is fine if you are trading larger time frame, daily + but the mammoth spreads and slooooooow execution! getting in and out of a trade takes forever.

Anyway hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me whether there are any ECN brokers with MT4 support that allow you to place a true limit order and get it hit across the spread by a market order? I can't seem to get a straight answer out of support at various brokers - first they say one thing then another. Is it even possible with MT4 or does the ask price have to come down and to match your buy limit order for it to be executed. i.e. Are these ECNs really just creating market if touched orders instead of true limit orders when trading through an MT4 bridge. I've tried FXOpen and MBTrading support and have several contradictory replies from both so I'm still not sure as to whether this is possible! Thanks!

Yes, it is. MB Trading are an ECN, your limit orders are posted to the ECN and you can be hit by other trader's market orders.
