A "new" simple system based on MA

Guy, I do not understand what you are looking for ? We all know here that the price drive the indicators, and we do not have any problem with this. You are talking about big players (banks etc...), do you really think they do not use indicators such as MAs or oscillators ???
Also you tell us that at the middle of a candle the indicator could give us a signal and then reverse....that's why we are waiting for the close of the candle.
So you criticize a system without trying to improve it, and you criticize something you did not read and you did not test. Please be serious or go away but do not criticize without testing and improving. You are better than all traders here...that's ok let us know you unbreakable system !!! We are just some curious people here.

P.S. : I win money everyday with this system for many years now, and some traders win money too....but maybe we are just lucky !

Hey Dragon...

I don't really trade this way anymore, but this was my favorite "system" if you want to call it that on FF for a long time so I still get updates when there are response in the thread.

What I'm mainly trying to work with now is simply price and volume. So one idea I wanted to share with you on pullbacks is that if there is a strong trend going, there should be strong volume (say the trend is down) on the down bars. During the pullback, there should be much weaker volume and typically the bar that re-initiates the trend will be a higher volume bar again. BetterVolume 1.4 is good at showing this often with a yellow for the last pullback bar before you'd be looking to take your trade.

I'm not trying to confuse anything or complicate anything, but I think using a separate variable independent of price could add a huge trade edge. What I mean is just as price is the price, volume is the volume. Its not an indicator, per say, based on price (such as ADX or Stochastic or moving averages). Typically, the low volume pullback is indicative of the professionals not being a part of that pullback move, and as such it shouldn't last long. Once the pullback has gone far enough, small, medium and large traders will start to pile in again, signaled by an increase in the volume.

Another thing to think about is potential exits. Often when coming to a major low or high, volume will drastically increase. If the following bars after the increase volume bar have less volume, and especially if their peaks fail to exceed the peak created by the initial high volume bar, it indicates the move may be dwindling and could be a potentially good exit (or entrance, depending on your trading stye - I'm mainly trading reversals now). I've posted an example of this along with this post.

Anyway, keep at it, you sure do have some monster trades, but just thought I'd give you something else to possibly think about in determining good entries and exits.

EDIT: One last thing after reviewing your trade you just posted: look at the high before the pullback before your trade, I'm guessing there was pretty high volume going into that, which signalled the reversal down to where you took the pullback trade. Now you got a good entry and then right after there was a big jump in price, I bet this also was alligned with a spike in volume. However, I bet this spike in volume was not as high as the spike in volume at the initial peak (before the pullback). Those two factors combined (spike in volume, but lower volume than the initial peak), could clue you into the fact that maybe that trade won't work out as well. Not to mention, we've been a rather range bound market so trying to catch bigger moves has been harder than usual.
