Hi shaggy rock,

My apologies for this. What I posted was incorrect. Only gold and silver are currently available through the micro account as mentioned by Turveyd. We intend to make the other CFD's available in micro lot sizes but a timeline has not been set as of yet.

Hi FrenchCuff,

This issue is being fixed with this weekend's platform update. What's happening right now is that the indicators are being calculated on the price to the 4th decimal rather than the 5th decimal. The forced update going through this weekend will change this so that the indicators are calculated on pricing to the 5th digit in the currency quote.

Jason

Jason,

I noticed that this weekend's platform upgrade did not fix this issue. Again, I know that for the past 8 years, a line chart and a moving average of "1" have and should coincide. Could you check on this please.

I am sorry if that question was held before, but I coudln't find it.
The question is why are the charts so different on bid and ask? I do understand that there is spread and stuf, but still, these charts look completely different and technical analisys signals are disguised
I have attached both ask/bid charts and you can see for example on ASK chart we have bearish outside bar, wich we don't have on BID chart, instead we have a bullish outside bar. The spread is only 7 pips.
Also take a look at fib levels. It was drawn on ASK chart, but when we switch to BID it's almost 40 pips difference....
It becomes a lot harder to trade because of that. What is the solution?
TS 2 is only good for customizing it's layout thus far...

Hi FrenchCuff,

The data itself will now coincide with each other, but I see the moving average indicator is shifted by 1 period so it does not appear directly over each other. I will notify the developers of this shift occurring. If your strategy is critical on the 1 sma appearing directly over the line chart open/close line, you can use the Trading Station web platform or the MT4 platform with FXCM. Thanks for notifying me about this.

I would like to vote for a chart with only the closing price,
I think could be a nice complement to Tradingstation in the future.

Hi roughtrader,

This is possible when viewing a line chart on FXCM's Marketscope chart. The line chart will display 3 lines when you first open it. The 3 lines are the open/close, high, and low price of the candlestick it corresponds to. What you can do is remove the high and low lines so that only the open/close line remains. You will need to uncheck the Show High Line and Show Low Line in the menu I circled in the chart below.

Hi VanillaStorm,

Thanks for your question, and I'm happy to help explain why a bid chart will look different from an ask chart. In terms of differences in technical analysis, I was hoping other traders would chime in with their own personal experience on which they prefer to use which is why I held off on answering.

A candlestick chart based on the bid prices may look different than a candlestick based on the ask prices due to the bid/ask spread. FXCM's Marketscope chart gives you the ability to display the bid or ask price for the candlestick whereas many charting packages will only display the bid. This is why there will be a difference when switching from one to the other. I also noticed from your screenshot you are trading the TRY/JPY currency pair which will have a wider spread than the major currencies making differences between the bid and ask candles more noticeable.

Jason,

Thanks for your answer. You told me about spread, but on TS 2 on this pair spread is only 7-9 pips. In the chart there is difference for almost 40 pips.

Jason,

The current practice to upgrade Trading Station platform is by :

1. download the latest version from FXCM website, and re-install it, or
2. login via TS II and it will upgrade the platform after successfully login

Does it possible if TS developers allow us to upgrade the current TS platform without having to "login" into account. It is like we open TS II, press "ESC" to exit login box, click "Help" and click "Software Updates".

So, if I have 3 different trading PCs, I can use the first PC to live trade, while using above method to upgrade TS platform for another two PCs.

cheers

Hi VanillaStorm,

Spreads on NDD forex execution are variable and can change based on market volatility and liquidity. The spread for TRY/JPY during the most active times of the day may be 7-9 pips, but the daily candle opens and closes at 5pm ET which coincides with rollover and the open/close of trading on Friday and Sunday. These can be illiquid and volatile periods, especially for a exotic currency pair like TRY/JPY.

Hi Zam,

Thanks for the suggestion and I'll forward it to the developers.

What was your thinking behind wanting to have it setup this way? Just curious.

Thanks Jason, but that was not what I meant,
I really didn't make that a good question,
obviously I have been looking at to many candles,
traders are buying at ask and selling at bid
and somewhere in the midle the trade is made and closes,
we get a closing price of each individual trade which will be
somewhere in between the ask and bid.
I think it would be cool to show a close chart based on that idea,
I was refering to the post about ask bid chart messing up the
technical analysis, we can either have a bid chart or an ask chart,
and there is nothing in between, that is what I meant,
maybe it's a crazy idea but it could be good for those doing a lot of
technical analysis if they could do it on a chart that was exactly between the spread.
I bet nobody did that before, you would be first setting the milestone

Ease of software upgrade without login to account or without visiting FXCM website, download from homepage.

And if have multiple personal computer and all installed with TS platform, then traders able to use primary computer to live trade, while updating others.
