which hardware works for browsing different programs on each monitor?
I talked guy today about this he told me that thinkclient will work but i have to use different keyboards for other monitor i get ports in thinkclient

Do one thing....First connect two monitors with your current motherboard...you will be able to switch programs ..

do basica thing CONNECT BOTH MONITORS first...

I have no idea what you asked him or what his answer means.

To recap - you have one computer with two monitors connected to it. Each monitor has its own cable connected to a separate display output (DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort) from your computer. You tell Windows to extend your desktop across both monitors. You can just drag windows from one display to the other, or leave them inbetween.

Since my background is in the IT support area, i was able to setup my 8 trading monitors without lots of headaches.

I did it with the best price/quality ratio in mind. Well.. to be honest at the beginning no.. my first shopping cart was around 3k+€!

You know.. ERGOTRON arms, NEC/DELL monitors, MATROX gfx, etc.. all top of the line solutions.

But then (as always) i stopped dreaming!

Seriously, how long did it take to mount them all? And approximately how much power does this beauty consume? You must have one of those DIY nuclear power plants in the backyard eh?

Considering that:
- LED Monitors (<30W each)
- No GAMING VGAs (<20W each)

It consumes the same power of computer with a single monitor and a top-of-the-line gaming VGA

although the 8 screen setup looks awesome,but youll go blind in couple years time trying to stare through them all.Unless your making mental money ,in speaking of 5 digits a day,no point in having so much monitors 4 is too many in most cases.As for people who want simmillar setups look up samsung 9 series lcds their less than 1cm thick and you can have 50 inch on your wall with as many windows as you want oppened at the same time,or just a plasma telly 60inch for 900 bucks no need to invest huge money into all the screens and vgas.

Sorry mate but i completely disagree (the fact that it hurts my view may be true)
I will not even discuss the question of the necessity.

Buying a single giant monitor instead of buying separate monitors its plain wrong! Why? Well.. There are so many things i can mention that i do not know where to start..

- The resolution of the monitor is what matter. Not the size. You could have a 100 inch monitor with less area (display resolution) of just one of my 21.5 inches monitor. (1920x1080)
- The biggest (RESOLUTION) for a single monitor is QSXGA (2560x2048) and at a cost of 7k+€ (MMD-5201M). Mine is 7680x2160!
- You simple cannot have the same productivity. You are missing the fact that with my setup you could have 8 different and independent task bars with whatever you want.
- Etc, etc...

It's possible to have multi-monitors for very low cost.

A used craigslist PC with a P4 processor & 2-3 gig clock speed can be had for $50 - $75 and a video card that supports an extra monitor is available for under $25. Now you grab a couple 20" flat screens for 50-60 bucks and you've got your first 2 monitors.

A laptop will already support an extra monitor, and of course, you just go to display properties / settings and "extend windows onto this monitor".

Set 2 monitors on a shelf and 2 more on your desk and you've got it..... that's if you were looking to put a multi-setup together with lunch money !!

Here is a man who means business. Sweet set up, can't believe how cheap as well. I'm down to just one monitor after putting my fist through the other last month. At least with your set up I'd get a full work out in.

As i said really awesome setup here,and many would want such trading station at hand,ive myself was thinking about 3monitor setup not so long ago,might do it soon thou.but for 8 screens id say you are making big money to go that far.And youre right about the resolution,just offered cheap solution if someone wants big screen
This is my set-up, merely a HP Pavillion desktop w/ dual 20" monitors, and a 15.9"HP Pavillion laptop w/ 19" monitor.. does EVERYTHING i need and more.. good trading & be prosperous.......

Nice set up!

Some people like to say that you don't need multiple monitors. Well I think it depends on your stile.

For some a laptop is enough, and I have seeing professional traders with a 12 monitor set up so it all depends on your stile.
So, you think you have rights? LOL
Last month I visited Chicago and toured a few firms while I was there.

While I was at ThinkorSwim's offices, I saw this, they call it "the wall":

Every monitor is an Apple Cinema Display.

They use it as a class room when they teach some more advanced options courses.
