Okay - I must be seeing crooked??! In my output from post 342 - there is an extra row/date "04/14/06" - this date is completely missing from the output from CSI.

Welcome to a deficiency in CSI data..........because Friday April 14 was a holiday, there was no data feed that day, therefore no predictions to use beginning Sunday April 16. This has happened to me before on holidays and in my opinion is a serious CSI data flaw. So I missed trading Sunday pm to Monday pm.

Last nights tradeing was a good example of when to use discretion and call it! I had hits on most of the pairs last night and by 7:00am EST, while some where ouy of the money I was still up 50 or 60 pips .... the market was looking weak but I hung in long enough for my 60 pips to turn into a 100 lost ........ live and learn....


Which has me thinking about settling for a good profit at the risk of unkown waters and setting a profit limit on the day or week .... any thought on this from anyone??

This was the absolute worst week for VP predictions since I bought the software in December 2005. And so my "system" as described earlier this week took a major loss. However, when we did our forward testing in Feb 06, we had a week that was worse than this one. And therefore the system lives on.

But like Rocket, I manage my trades and therefore I escaped today's carnage and ended the week with a modest profit. "This" is my trading style, but it does not diminish in the slightest my conviction that a 24 hour "set & forget" system using VP is profitable in the long run.

I can't wait to trade next week, let's hope it's a better one for us VP users.

Greating to everyone. I am new to the board. Knowing that I am considering of purchasing VP, a friend pointed me to read Fiji's reports. I have enjoyed reading everyone's post and especially Fiji's. It is a good learning experience.

One thing I noticed is that most people here use VP to trade Forex pairs. I was actually thinking of buying a package for metal and energy markets. Does anyone have personal experience of using VP on those markets? Are VP prediction as helpful for those markets as for forex pairs? I'd really appreciate any input.

I too took a loss on Cable, on receiving my Sell signal, entered the market 00.00 gmt and got spiked out around 8am as the market dragged itself up.

BTW, is there any more information on which is the best data provider to use as my CSI trial period has just expired and I now have to purchase a service.

Hi Dave.....

Rocket has indicated he will prepare a data service provider comparison spreadsheet. I'm waiting for the results because I believe we will find out one will stand out as being more useful than the others.

Since your CSI trial is almost over, why not sign up for a free trial with one of the others, perhaps Genesis?

Canoner, when I first purchased Vantagepoint, in 2003, the forex modules were not available. I was using it solely for trading commodities futures. Now that I have added forex to my portfolio, I still use VP for futures trades and it is still very effective. You just need to develop the correct strategy.

Thanks. Does VP come with sample strategies? I've read the threads about forward testing, and I left a bit confused. How easy is it to test a strategy using historical data in VP? I've used another neural network based program called tradingsolution. It is fairly easy to test a strategy there. It breaks down to three steps: training, cross checking, and out of sample testing .The trouble with that program is that users have to play with the modeling part and I spent a lot of hours and still couldn't find a good model for just one index. From what I read, VP does the modeling part by itself, but somehow testing strategies is not as easy. Am my understanding it right?

By the way, when you use VP to help you trade commodities, what is the average length of your positions? Hours or days? Thanks.

CRB is suggested as a data provider. I tried a two week demo with them and was satisfied; Rocket uses them. One advantage I have seen is that CRB provides a data feed on holidays; CSI does not. Therefore, last Friday I did not get a feed and so had no info to use for trading on Monday. I believe CRB had the info.............Rocket is that correct?

VP does not provide trading strategies. This is the reason some of us here at FF have spent a lot of time developing various startegies, particularly a "set & forget" trading system. As for backtesting, there is nothing in VP to make this an easy task. The data is there, you must develop your own backtest. And experience would suggest that most backtesting is unrelaible at best.
