Quoting lonespruceDislikedHey BeachBum,
My VP output for 20apr06 lists the NI for usdjpy as 0.58 - my data provider is Genesis.
Just curious about the discrepancy.
Here is my output today:Ignored
Quoting BeachBumDislikedWhat I find to be more disturbing then the NI difference are the p/h and pl differences.Ignored
Quoting lonespruceDislikedI agree 100% - I noticed that as soon as I had posted my last post. I'd do the comparison - but I'm in the middle of exam preperation for my final semester of universtiy.
I have a feeling that each provider does have the same data - they just each treat FX differntly as they are not stricktly FX data providers. What I mean is that their open and close times are probably different. For instance maybe CSI uses 4pm EST as their end of day, while Genesis may use 5pm EST as their end of day [I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TIMEs THEY USE - THESE TIMES USED FOR EXAMPLE PURPOSES ONLY]. This would leave them with the same raw data hour by hour, but with different end of day figures.
I'll email Genesis tonight to see what time they use.Ignored
Quoting BeachBumDislikedbut the most important thing is to use a provider that closely matches the numbers from your broker.Ignored
Quoting BeachBumDislikedIn the "Forward Testing" thread we had a discussion about this. I will need to go back and see what time everybody does it, but the most important thing is to use a provider that closely matches the numbers from your broker.Ignored

Quoting Dave1DislikedHi cgldsmth, yes England. To be sure of getting the correct data i was told to download at 11.30pm gmt.Ignored
Quoting foggyTraderDislikedHi Guy's,
I also live in the UK (Scotland), and I download the 4:50 EST download from CSI which is 21:50 our time and it is the correct download for the fx spot contracts that are needed to update VP. I used to wait untill 23:30 but there is no need as I contacted CSI directly and this was what they told me.
Just to let everyone know, I have started forward testing BB's set & forget formulas but instead of using the stochastic I am using CP's signal file. I know CP's results have since been declared flawed but I still think the signal file idea is a good one and that we just need to establish the correct way to use it. I will post the results weekly on the forward testing results only thread.
Happy trading everyone
Cheers

Quoting RocketDislikedI should have Genesis data from Bernadete shortly, within the next few days I will try to provide a data comparison.

Quoting lonespruceDislikedHey Everyone,
Got a response from Genesis today saying that their Forex data is collected from 22h00GMT to 22h00GMT. Seeing as EST is currently on DST I'm not sure if this means 17hOOEST or 18h00EST as of right now - they did not elaborate.
Anyhow - this means that their EOD data matches up with my broker in terms of time of day, which is positive. Now I'll have to check if their actual numbers are close to my brokers numbers - hopefully
I'm not sure if this is critical information but I thought that I would share anyhow.Ignored
