want to clean the crap out of mt4, so it flies.........?

these huge files are the biggest problem.

delete them at the end of each week.

especially the 1 and 5 min chart history

the mt4 user guide does not mention anything on this topic.




find the mt4 folder on what ever drive you are using.......

That's not going to make anything much faster... and I'd rather have the tick data collected.

Ok.. so far so good.

Account funded quickly.

Customer service seems friendly enough.

I've experienced one disconnect from MT4 for about 45 seconds.. it was during a trade, which kinda bothered me, but with every other MT4 broker I've found this tends to happen once in a while.

I've only executed micro lots so far in testing execution. Everything's fine, but should price be very volatile I've noticed that sometimes the order confirmation takes a few seconds to return. Not a huge deal since it hasn't really given me any slippage, just a delay in letting me know it was executed.

That aside, there's a few gripes I do have...

- Limit orders must be set at least 2 pips away from the inside quote, that kinda upsets me since I'd LOVE to be able to limit bid/offer myself within the spread to get a slightly better price than market order punching... I scalp, so fractions of a pip will add up for me..

- Stops and Take Profit orders must also be set 2 pips away from the inside quote. Kinda annoying, I'd like to be able to set a stop a tick below or above a given price.. just how I've gotten used to exiting trades as a scalper.

what data? You mean trading instruments?

They don't offer CFDs, so no Oil or dollar index... but that's fine, since I'm completely disinterested in trading anything like that.

Razor..

I ran some spread analysis and on average I'd be getting about 0.1-0.3 pips price improvement going with Razor over the standard account after you factor in commissions.

Execution speed has been much slower for me this week, market orders taking like 1-1.8 seconds. I'm still experiencing the same issue with the freezing price feed, they still haven't got back to be about that. I'm thinking i'll change broker if this issue is not resolved soon...

I've experienced this myself... about once or twice an hour all ticks stop for about 10-30 seconds.. entering or modifying an order at this time causes the order to hang.

I'm taking videos of it happening so I can hit their support up with something they can't shrug off..

I really want to get this resolved, because otherwise I think this is an awesome broker.

How long has it been like this? I've only had a live account with then for the past few weeks so don't know what things were like before that.

I've attached the tick logger indicator i mentioned. You may like to use that too. It simply writes to log file the date time bid ask and spread as each tick arrives. You will have to make a new folder called "Tick Log" in the MT4 folder/experts/files directory.

Strange how some people have this and others don't. It is only on the live feed, the demo works fine.

I have called them up a few days ago and they told me they work on it.
I was scalping today and my order was hanging, luckily I got out of it at break even as soon as the data feed started up again.

Have to ring them up again next week.

That's good news.

I'm really happy with this broker outside of the feed issue.. so if they clean this up, I might have a new primary broker.

Question: Their website states that the maximum leverage provided is 400:1. Are there any restrictions on that leverage, for example regarding the account balance, trade size etc?
Forex is a losers game.

I'm unaware of any limits on leverage in relation to account size.. various sources around the net say they don't limit leverage as your account grows, however, I have yet to confirm that with a pepperstone rep myself.

Since they are an ECN/STP model type, I don't think they are worried so much about the leverage on large accounts since market orders (we're talking, huge orders here) will just slip a bit to fill and they're not holding the bag to execute your order. That being said, their liquidity sources are pretty good and at peek times one rep was saying that the EUR/USD having 50 million+ available within a pip on the inside quote is normal.. If you're swinging with a larger position than that, I don't think you'd be posting on these forums (and probably wouldn't execute it all at once anyway...)

All that being said, use their chat feature on their website and ask a rep any specifics.. I'm only going from what I've observed and actual execution might be very, very different.

Conditions are going from bad to worse with Pepperstone. If they don't sort these issues out by monday i won't be trading with them any more. Execution speed has really slowed down this week:
