@LawGirl21,

I dont know why, but your EU H1 charts posted 8 hours ago is significantly different from the one posted by maudur 10 hours ago.

Mine looked more like maudur's chart.

Notice the BO lines, in particular.

Hi Forexpippy

Do you set your range box using the candles on the H1 or the M30 chart, and is the range set at the high/low of the candle wicks or candle bodies?

I'm short in usdjpy. I'm using trailing stop with MA_TS firts with EMA 8, and now I moved MA to 3 in order to assure profits.

Long in EURUSD. Short in USDCAD. Both with trailing stop with MA_TS.

Usually, according to LG, the box settings utilize the H1 time frame and the range is the candle body of each hour. I do not mean to speak for anyone else but noticed you had not received a response as yet so thought I would let you know what I have been told. Other people may use different settings and I do not speak for them.

Thanks 66Trader66. I was wondering if other combinations of TF and candle range were being used.

Took two trades on daily TF. Both were entered quite late but worked out and still running.

Sorry Koglkama, I must have missed this.

There is no hard and fast rule for this. It's an attempt to define a trading range for the pruposes of identifying a breakout, so it's very subjective, what ever produces the best results for you.

I'm actually using an indicator to calculate the boxes for me. i've attached a copy for you to have a play around with.

As for trading today, what an easy morning for bagging 3/8 EMA crosses?!! I opened 3 trades before leaving the house to get to the office and they were all closed in profit by the time I arrived

Hello Law Girl, really enjoying your thread. Interesting trading with out candles. I have a question regarding your strat. When looking at price movement off of s&r lines, ie. trendlines, pivots, 200 ma etc, are you waiting for price to break or bounce off of those areas… or the ma’s themselves to break s&r? Thank you for the thread and all the time you put in.

Glad you are enjoying the thread, Brifx...and hope you are banking pips with it. This has been a great week so far.

I look to the angle of the MAs only and that they are in the direction indicated by the 200 EMA, as well as the 50 EMA which I added to "refine" the direction even more.

The chart below is an ideal set-up..doesn't always work out, but mostly it does.

I'm a little squeamish about that word...but happy you are making lots of pips. It has been a very good early trading week.

EURUSD: 70% of trade was closed at TP1, locking in 22 pips. SL was moved to breakeven and then a 20 pip trailing stop followed the remaining 30% of my trade. The remaining trade was eventually closed for a 42 pip profit. Total pips = 64

Started playing with the strategy late yesterday night! I have a quick question: MTMP - I've never gotten the trailing stop to work correctly - always gets me out of the position somehow... Can you share your settings?

Or maybe PM me with them not to clutter the thread?

Thanks!

I generally can't get it to work either, so I stopped using it for trailing stops!

I was testing another EA entirely. It's not mine to circulate (not sure if the version I had was made available on FF), however the creator is Maudur, so you could try sending him a nice message It's a great trade management EA for partial closures and trailing stops.

Thanks again, Bill. It figures that none of the platforms I use have US$ available. I can only find out if the index is up or down through news sources.

Lawgirl21 - don't want to do any advertisement but open a demo account with Windsor and you will see USIndex and many more...

I've read on a latter post that you are just closing your trades completely now. So I have a new question for you: at what time are you trading usually?

I see so many posts from you and LawGirl21 but I can't define at what time the most breakouts are happening! I'm in the US / EAST Coast so for me London start should be at 4:00 AM with the Savings Daylight now - correct?
