This is fun, I posted on the first page almost a year ago. What I can add to that is if it's normal for you to try to improve yourself in every other aspect of life - vocation/athletics/knowledge/etc. - you'll go much farther in trading than if the notion of self-improvement is new to you.

I think that trader wants to be people, who want to make more money and Forex trader is a person, who want to make much more money and much more faster

(if i dont want to make lot of money, i would trade shares)

there are advantages to trading shares instead of forex... but, then again there are also disadvantages. it all comes out in the wash.

Intelligent/logical decisions = profitable trades.

This is totally the key. Your trading has to be emotionless, or as close to it, in order for your account to grow. Otherwise your emotions will override your intelligence. No intelligence/logic = LOSSES. LOL

me thinks the best trader needs to have 'adaptability'.

of course analytical mind, imaginative, persistent, patience, hardworking, creativity, attention to detail, memory, stamina, IQ, etc will only serve for better.

Regarding ego 'thing' , i think every trader has enormous ego....higher ego than normal people. Why? because we thinks we are special. Even we know 95% traders failed, but we are still at it. I dont think it was due to greed alone. Eventho we have no notion, no clue of how we fare in the future trades, we want to have a go at it.

Anybody who has small 'ego' wouldnt want to touch forex....unless....they have the holygrail.

I did not say STUPID gamblers. If you don't like word "gambler"

how about "educated bettor" , is that more to your liking?

Point is, you may take calculated risk, and control risk, but you still can not

predict all outcomes. Therefore you have to accept risk.

i think any one can trade who could make their own systems on the bases of fundamental or technical analysis.the main thing is to back test your system over a long time period that gives u consistent big profits and small losses.
if u r loosing in trading the psycological reason could be either greed or fear that drives u to commit mistakes.the key is to start trading with the capital that u afford to loose .

The trader that knows it all, will typically quickly be proven wrong by the market. The humble attitude leads a trader to be willing to admit mistakes quickly, close out losing trades, and move on without loss of confidence.

Oh yeah luckety luck. If you got it, you know what it means, angels smiling at you, otherwise you'll never understand. Anyway, not wanting to divert the thread with some irrelevant, provocative "red herring" post, lemme say that I think any kind of person can trade, provided that they have the time required to learn the ropes, and some other source of income, not depending on the churning, unpredictably crazy machinery of the financial markets.
