i was watching the new test video from tradeguider and i got that "B", the upthrust could also be considered a test and the key reversal afterwards is confirmation. hth.

Rewatch that video because you are mistaken. Start witht the fact that B has a top and not a bottom tail...

Also Tests are confirmed by the next interval being up. If the next interval is down then the Test is said to have failed. If the next interval is up but 2-5 intervals later close lower than the test, then you have No Result from a Test. Simply, a reversal would in no way confirm a test.

Could interest you to detect market changes

Basic outline:
1. Blue = volume greater than the previous bar.
2. Red bars= volume less than or equal to the previous bar.
3. Fuchia bars= volume less than the two previous bars.
4. Dark Blue bars= volume is climatic (highest volume x range for the last 20 bars) and greater than the previous bar.
5. Dark Red bars= volume is climatic and less than or equal to the previous bar.
6. Dark Fuchia bars= volume is climatic and less than the previous two bars.
7. Yellow bars= volume is extremely low (lowest volume bar in last 20 bars).

*** Ultra high volume additon*****
If any volume bar is greater than or equal to Mov (V,30,S)+2.75 *Standard deviation of volume for the last 30 bars,
it is painted with the appropriate climax volume color. So a bar with greater volume than the previous bar and a greater
than the moving average plus 2.75 the standard deviation of volume over 30, would be Dark Blue.

Interesting.

Here's an explanation of how I have it set up now. For those who are wondering, 20 periods are used because that is the standard setting of the original Better Volume. Tradeguider actually uses 15 periods (only revealed publically once).

I left out volume equal to the previous. I think it would be good to have a specific color for this situation, maybe yellow or white.

Of course all colors can be changed to suit the user....

I'm fairly certain there is not one - I use NT7 extensively and have explored the wide variety of indicators but have not seen one coded like this. It could be programmed, probably fairly easily by someone who knows C, but that's not me.

Yea, it would take a some pretty basic programming know how- I say basic but I can't do it myself. LOL

BTW, I would love to see one of your footprint charts of today's action in the 6E.

Here it is, in a fancy-shmancy animated version . The 2 views are:

  1. the view with the blue bar to the left of the candle shows the difference between buyers and sellers for that price level, while the information to the right is colored green or red to indicate buyers or sellers control/won that price level - within that 20m bar - and by how much.
  2. the other chart view when there is red to the left of the 20min candle shows (in red) how many sellers there were at that price level for that bar and the data to the right shows (in green) how many buyers there were at that price level.


TBH, I am not a fan of viewing 6E in this format; my sense is that it gets dragged around far too much by the spot market, and today (at least NY) I thought was especially difficult, as it was anticipatory news-bullet driven (Berlusconi - will he or won't he go) with ranginess the name of the game. Given the size and volume of the EURUSD spot market compared to 6E, I often see the unexpected happen in terms of what impact the buyers and sellers are able to have, and thus what I expect 6E (or is it EURUSD, lol?) to do. I have been able to use 3 to 5 minute charts of this type to help me immensely with CL (which of course has nothing to 'drag' it around, except for market correlations) and even ES behaves far better in terms of giving overall expected results/moves from this OFA view (even though the cash S&P market should be a 'noose' to it), but I would say the massive ES liquidity makes it behave better for footprint chart analysis.

Here's the chart. Times are NY at the bottom, right up to the 5pm close; 03:00 would thus be the London equity open.

I haven't given the day much analysis myself, as I was not a fan of trading it today, but, I do note now it rigidly stuck to and above the DPP, as well as the S1 bottom. (Also, the dashed lines are triggers, derived from the 20min chart)

Yea, it's a 3 min spot chart from this evening. It was not a trade, just an observation of a SOS that is not often seen and seems to cause some confusion.

Just before I got this pic, Gavin moved his DOM into the view. Sorry.

Anyway, I want to note the Buying Climax on the right side of the chart. Notice that this indicator of a Buying Climax shows up in what is clearly a range.

Gavin took a quick scalp off of it for a few dollars. But what's most important to me is the fact that the BC not into fresh new ground, nor is it after a rise in price (i.e. trend).
