Forex trading with Ninjatrader

Does anyone have experience trading forex with Ninjatrader? Specifically I am looking at MB Trading and Interactive Brokers.

Both appear to be "ECN" or non dealing desk brokers which is a plus.

As for MB Trading, the account size can be much smaller and higher leverage option which is a plus. On the other hand, there seem to be execution problems on one of the other threads, don't know if this just with the MT4 platform; Id like to hear others experience with Ninjatrader.

As for IB, they seem to have the best reputation for safety of funds/non dealing desk issues, however they require a 10,000 deposit and less leverage. There are also poor ratings on the internet for customer service and there are issues with trading crosspairs (non US denominated). Does anyone have experience with these issues and/or use of Ninjatrader with IB? Thanks for any assistance.

I always thought that Ninjatraders is a good and reliable trading platform until recently my very old good friends had hell lots of issue with them.To keep it short, they are not provide good data feed to the clients who actually bought the license with them. Guess what, these people even attempt to "squeeze" extra cash out from these poor helpless traders, by asking them to pay extra fee for good data feeding. These charges is on monthly basis some more!!! I am shock and ask myself why not switch back to MT4 and trade happily?

Alright. Really not sure how this could happen and I checked with development. At this point they would need for me to replicate the problem on my end.

The data feed is the data feed so I do not beleive that the FX pro window matters if you use live or not.

However what I am interested in is this the first time you have seen this happen in 8 years?

After a night sleep, here are my thoughts about what happen to Ninja, I hope this helps the developers do something.

Keep in mind, on simulation everything is all right and I did not notice anything so drastic.

On simulation usually I have about 10 charts opened( 10 minutes), and 2 time and sales, FX pro and super dom, that are linked.

I do take a trade using chart trade on the instrument that the trade is in. Them I select the instrument on FXpro, and this changes the Dom, and time and sales window to the data that I need to be seeing.
This process has been working well on simulation.

Now, when I started using the live account, I was using only 6 charts, and was noticeable a big delay on the data synchronization between FXpro, time & Sales and Dom.

My friend that abandoned Ninja because could not make data work, said he tried Kinectic, but Ninja takes a lifetime to load data on charts and so Kinectic paid data did not help him. So he thinks and I, am agreeing with it now that Ninja, has a very "heavy code", that sucks all the resources of the computer and so starts not working anymore.

That is something developers must look into, since other programs run several charts, at same time and all work..

Right now, I will try use ninja just for execution and abandon the charts. Will have to have another computer with another software, like mt4, or mb navigator or FXCM , that is seamless not hogging computer resources like Ninja is doing for a long time now.

Thanks for forwarding this to developers, and hopefully sometime I can make my trading decisions based on ninja charts again.

The computer I use, is quad core, I7, 64 bit. Has losts of hard drive and memory, so this should not be a problem.

I don't use any of those brokers but I trade forex on NT and I am quite happy about it. My live data feed is supplied by my broker and not by ninja trader.

I think the reason for me at least why I would use ninjatrader is for order management and charting. If you want data feed, it is better if you use the broker data than ninjatrader.

Since I trade with tick charts, I need a better order management system than the one provided by the brokers. I wonder if anyone here has an experience with order management for forex with ninjatrader to share the experiences it would be highly appreciated.

I'm not sure I quite understand what it is you need but I will be happy to help if I can. Could you be a little more specific about your requirements ?

I use the chart trader with different ATM strategies and I just couldn't imagine going back to MT4.

Ok, Ninjatrader is not a data feed or data provider. They are a charting and trade management interface. This is very clear when purchasing Ninjatrader and your friend should have realized this if he had looked into it in the slightest before just blindly clicking by now. They use your brokers price feed or you can pay for a data provider.

Regarding your friends issue with charting, you have only posted the first two emails. No record of how the issue was resolved is posted. Computers and computer programs fuck up from time to time, that is just how it is. The important thing is how the issue is handled by the company which you have not bothered to post. As said in their reply, 'is this the first time something like this has happened in 8 years?'

I do not use Ninjatrader so I can't say if they are good or not, but neither do you. You cannot just come on here and post bad publicity about a company using hear say evidence from a friend that obviously did not properly look into what they were signing up for and then post the bits and pieces of evidence that back up your ill-informed opinions. (Well evidently you can, but you shouldn't).

Ninjatrader allows anyone to demo their software for free. No where on their site do they claim to provide data. Your friend's poor data has nothing to do with ninjatrader but has to do with the broker or data stream he is paying for.

I find it hard to believe that someone would pay the fee for ninjatrader without looking at the software first.

I am not a ninjatrader users but anyone paying for software needs to do their homework. I used to use tradestation and now I use ensign. I didn't just buy them - I demoed them and did plenty of research to make sure I would be happy with the results.

NinjaTrader is one of the top charting/trading platform.
They do not provide data feed. Hey, why would they do that??

Actually NT do provide a data feed ... Kinetick is their own brand but it has to be purchased separately.

Many brokers offer a time limited demo with a price feed ... free end of day date is available from kinetick, google and yahoo.

Hi , I have used Ninjatrader with MB , I would recommend it .

One of the things I like is the wide access to all of the 3rd party tools and indicators that can be used with NT. Excellent charting also .

MB `s data feed works fine , very fast execution on the NT platform . You can use your broker data feed for free , just check the the list of brokers that work with NT on their website .

I have also had good experience with their customer service , very prompt .

Ninja Trader is fine, but the customer service is horrible! You have to fight only to make them accept that there is a problem, and they usually negate for as long as is possible that a problem could be ninja's fault, and, after that, they often say "this issue is in the list of future developments", which in reality means "we absolutely have no interest at all in resolving this issue".

Ninja Trader = one of the best platform with one of the worst customer service.
