This EMA cross system is beautiful in its simplicity BUT we cannot ignore what the candles tell us.

Absolutely, removing candles means that you cut yourself out from very useful information that market gives you.
But of course if this system makes them money then it's not my place to judge.

Going back over previous Lawgirl posts, I find that she explains her strategies in a clear and concise manner. This thread is no exception.

I have no idea whether this strategy will be a pip gatherer or not but, I like the style with which she writes. Her posts are always courteous, she never talks down to people and there is never a hint of arrogance. How refreshing, after reading some of the stuff here on FF.

An exit before the cross back on the big TF could be on the small TF, but it will create alot of trades. Either that or simple support/resistance or even the round numbers for target.
Its also possible to have 2 TP as targets.
First target could be a round number or nearest s/r. If first target is reached, then move stop to BE. second target could be when a cross is made on the higher TF to let it play out.

Use a stoploss with the help of a stochastic,

after entry, put you're stop at the low of the stochastic.

calculate the distance of entry and stop and calculate that by the entryprice.
example: entry 1.4030- stop 1.4010= 20 pips
take profit 1.4030 + 20 = 1.4050

that's it indeed this is no allround method, it's a framework and it will do well if there's momentum in the market, and discretion is mandatory for sensible application.. if traded alone, in itself. It simply has to be profitable IF applied properly, and even if the market conditions are 'easy' (aka trending or at least big swing range), one still needs a clear-cut, definite setup and that is exactly what the method offers.

The method reminds me of this system posted >3yrs ago; a framework simple as it can be. The OP was largely bashed right from the start, because of indicators are lagging etc. He supposedly still trades the system after all these years. I tend to believe him; those 'systems' are NOT mechanical (as ppl like to expect), they're mere but extremely useful frameworks where experience has to be applied. Yes, indeed we need experience and feel for the market, but we need some tool to limit the otherwise unlimited market for ourselves. We need one imaginary line at least ..otherwise, we're gonna be lost very quickly. Some profitable trader's framework might consist of of channels, trendlines.. another's of gann stuff or forks.. others emphasize supply/demand zones.. and yes, there are profitable traders whose framework is a reign of moving averages or stochs.

I like useful indicator applications because they are a gateway to partial automation/alerting. I like the MA framework on two TFs. I'm about to make myself a kind of 'watchdog' sitting on multiple pairs/instruments to alert me on possible emerging trends for further evaluation (eyeballing/trading).

I made this indicator a while ago for a system idea I had not unlike LawGirl's.

He's an expert named Gus, after Hera's Argus, a watchdog with as many as a thousand eyes. He sits perched on EUR/USD because it is the most liquid pair, and the more ticks, the more Gus watches for price crosses, moving average crosses, and Ichimoku crosses.

He watches 32 pairs across all (selectable) time frames. When a signal is given for any strategy, he Print()'s it to the "Experts" tab in MT4.

I'll post the code when I get back to my computer in the hope that you may all become more vigilant and productive in your trading. Should be in an hour or so..

EDIT: The IchimokuMod was a development spin-off when I originally wrote Gus, but if you like it, it could easily be added as a different option/check. Also, the ema_cross_check used to be the frasma_cross_check, which came later on, but I changed it back to EMA for the purposes of this thread.:nerd:

Is it worth thowing on the closing price as a line chart?
And how do filter false signals e.g the ones that make the cross only to recross and go in the opposite direction when you have entered.

Looks like correction/pullback at this point on both pairs.

Countertrend scalping trade.

I entered this trade using the M30 and M5 charts. I'm not expecting more than a few pips. Will see....these kinds of trades are too nerve racking for me

Out with 10 pips.
