last week was very good for many couples because it had a tendency ... but there will be moments of detection range is paramount when operating ma´s

There was a fellow on here who suggested this strategy: "go in with 2 or 3, and when you hit +50, sell two and bring the stop loss up to break even and let the third one run" until the 3 and 8 cross again. It's a great strategy because you've eliminated greed...and the runner is a free trade!

Excellent suggestion, but if your account is not big enough for 2 or 3, we can go in with 1 and close.5, .4, etc to protect profits. Even if one is trading.02($.20) pips, .01 can be closed and let the other $.10 ride.

There are ways to always protect profit.

You are right. Last week for example, there were 2 days where I did not trade this method because there was consolidation and no good setups. When that happens I move on to another trading system.

Did a quick test on the 4h using daily as direction. Eurusd 2011. Profit 87% drawdown 7000 starting with 10k. I will send the results later

Looking at forexhard's chart set up at post #14 (thanks again, forexhard) along with the 3,8 EMA set up, and using trendlines (TL) we have a very nice way to watch the action.

Notice that the MAs--which reflect price action (PA)-- have narrowed into a pennant formation on both charts. If the bottom pennant line is breached and continues down, we would not be trading this pair on this system. (Remember that every good trader needs an arsenal of trading methods for different situations...at least 4-6 different set ups for different market conditions.)

But if price breaches the top pennant line, we would look to enter long again.

Thanks bumapatria, don't think I am a pioneer here, but thanks for your kind words.

I hope everyone goes through charts and researches this setup then demos it before using real money

Yes, that is correct, lehmann. Although each trader needs to use their own discretion about entering any trade "immediately".

Big Picture for direction comes from the H1 chart (or higher if trading another TF, but drawdown will be significantly bigger the higher TF one uses)

Scan for direction of 3,8 EMAs in relation to desired direction.

Make note of pairs setting up or need later review, for example, if they are approaching the 200 EMA...what will they do? Bounce off the 200 and turn, go through it, or walk along it. Those are the only choices.

When 3 crosses 8 on higher TF , move to lower TF for entry...look for a strong cross on lower TF and enter.

I monitor the trade on the higher TF, but that is a trader preference.

Good to hear from you, TSD. I hope you are doing well and making lots of pips. Yes I am back but will not be spending the time I was spending on Trade What You See...but I missed the community. Trading is a very lonely business, as we have heard a million times. I think as with everything in life, there needs to be balance-- and I was getting a little "unbalanced".

i really love your naked trading thread, and that is an awesome trading strategy

today i notice that you make a new thread, a moving average strategy ....
that use indicator as a trigger, and this is contrary to your past trading strategy that use a price action as a trigger ... does the naked trading strategy is not effective anymore ??

Yes... Balance is very important... Less is more in this business. Took years to understand that concept. As with many things in trading, it can be very counter intuitive. IMHO

The community is a great place. Hard to stay away for sure.


Trading has been good and I hope the same for you.

Lawgirl I have a few questions, hope you don't mind answering.

1. What's the philosophy underlying this system, we are trend followers?
2. I'm using the CCpf indicator as well, what do you think about taking a trade when I know X currency is getting stronger as a confirmation? With this I mean if I know USD is getting stronger against all majors and I have an upside trend in EURUSD (with a cross above the 8EMA) Should I get in?

Great new thread. Loved the naked trading thread and learned alot. I have been using a similar set up for the past while. I use 5 and 10 ma with the 200 added for direction. Long if above the 200 and short if below. Works great most of the time.

Not a stupid question at all. I should have explained better.

By strong cross, I am looking for 12:00 - 2:00 o'clock for a long trade and 4:00 - 6:00 o' clock for a short trade.
