How to I edit the indi to change to SMMA - not sure what the 1,2,3 etc refer to.

You will have to send me the zero-lag MACD that you want to use. It is an easy effort to switch the MACD call in the indi. Right now, the indi calls the DiNapoli. I think you are onto a good approach here. I tried a couple of other MACD settings during the night (morning), but I did not go fast enough and I did not go zero-lag. When I make the change, I will specify the MACD parameters as External Parameters so we cna experiment with different numbers if we want to.

Yeah I cant wait to go...looking at next year after I get back from China....George, here is the zero lag I have, I turned off the divergence lines they werent really useful.

OK. Attached you will find the revised indi. The following changes were made:

1. "!Zero Lag MACD with Div" is used for the MACD functionality.
2. External parameters "FastEMA", "SlowEMA", and "SignalEMA are provided. Deefaults are set to 7, 12, 5.
3. The function tnat I had called "EMA20_Filter_Enable" has been renamed "SMMA_Filter_Enable" to correctly represent that it is an SMMA and not an EMA. The external parameter "SMMA_Period" is provided for, and defaults to 20 for 1m charts. If you are running 5m charts, Lesso has suggested changing this to 9, and I have used 9 and like it.

That is it. The Zero Lag MACD is a good change, as you will see. You can control signal filtering by experimenting with the "FreshSignalsOnly" feature and its external parameter "TouchDistance". TouchDistance is specified in pips and fractional pips. The smaller you make it, the closer the "touch" must be to pass through the filter. On 1m charts, experiment with numbers like 0.1 to 1.0, and you will see the effect.

Forgot to advise, you must have the "!Zero Lag MACD with Div" file in your experts/indicators directory for the revised indi to work.

thanks George, im liking the zero lag as well, I will prob be changing post 1 to use zero lag macd instead.

I have tried to put Lesso v1.3, v1.4 and v1.3(5m) on a clean chart and I always get critical error message and close of MT4. Journal tells me nothing but experts tab reads deinitialized and then either uninit reason 1 or reason 3. I am positive I placed them in indicator folder while platform was closed and they show up in the navigator under custom indicators. Any help would be much appreciated. I am anxious to use that "touch" feature because I am too slow to place an order on 1min and need any early notice I can get. I have the zero lag macd in indicators file.

What build of MT4 are you running? The latest is build 406. To check, go to Help/About from the top command row. You have to go to your broker and download the latest version if you are out of date.

You might try 5m charts if 1m is too quick. That is what I am doing. If you decide to use 5m chart, change the SMMA_Period to 9 in the external parameters list. Set the TouchDistance to 1.0 pip.

Hello all;

I have revised the Signal indi one more time to accomplish the following:

1. This version define two separate SMMAs -- the "SMMA_Trigger_Filter" and it associated "Trigger_Period" (period 20 for 1m charts and period 9 for 5m charts) and the "SMMA_Trend_Filter" and its associated "Trend_Period" (period 34 for both 1m and 5m charts).

2. Defaults are set to 1m charts, and you must set the SMMA_Trend_Filter to "true" if you wish to use it.

Personnally, I like using the trend filter as it will filter out many signals that I would not take anyway. Take care in setting the "TouchDistance" -- you will loose signals if you set this too tight. I think 1.0 pip is good for 5m charts, and, perhaps 0.5 pips for 1m charts. Note that you get two choices for exit with this setup. You can exit at a close across the Trigger-line or you can exit at a close across the Trend-line.

I really struggle with overcomplicating systems - so I am hoping this method will help me keep things simple. In backtesting it's edge appears solid.

I will also use this on 1-4h timeframes and pick up some long term trends to compliment my short term trading.

The SMMA_Trend_Filter_Enable function had a slight error in v1.5. The calculations used an SMA ma instead of an SMMA ma. V1.5.1 attached corrects this problem

Easy, thanx for straitening me out with my Mt4 but I now have the new build and V5 works although it takes a lot of bandwith. Good job. hard work. Thank you. Please explain how the zero lag macd works. It seems to connect pin bars or dojis to find hidden breakouts or trends. The lines that it draws in the window and on the chart match but what for. Anything that doesn't lag or hopefully does not repaint I want to study. I await your kind reply.

we havent been using the lines on that indi....I never have found much use for them. They are supposed to be showing you divergences.

My broker (FXDD) requires: open price you set must differ by at least 40 pips. By the time I put in the pending order the price has moved to prevent me from using the numbers on the chart. Depending if it's short or long I can get closer by using stop instead of limit orders. Still not close enough. Besides changing brokers any suggestions?

search for an Ea on FF called easy. it lets you draw lines on the charts and they act as orders. your broker cant see these orders. follow the instructions on the easy thread.
