The last 24 hours were tough for Aurora. I have been testing on EURUSD only now on M5 using different minimum candle size settings:

 

  1. Minimum 0 = 29 trades, 11 losses = -$33 (at 0.1 lot per trade)
  2. Minimum 7 = 20 trades, 8 losses = - $55.20 (at 0.1 lot per trade)
  3. Minimum 10 = 7 trades, 2 losses = + $8.70 (at 0.1 lot per trade)

So, nothing very impressive, but having the minimum candle size set to 10 does seem to have helped. On the other hand, perhaps we will find going forward that it misses a lot of profit trades when conditions change and the minimum 0 version overtakes it.

The secret with any system is to not expect miracles. If Aurora makes 15 trades a day and 10 were nothing trades, but the other 5 were significant, then the system is working well. This basically happened to me today. Min Candle Size of 9, 3% risk and ootb settings resulted in a 7.2% account gain.

12 trades taken by Aurora, with 8 small wins*, 1 x 50% win, 2 x standard wins and 1 x standard loss.

*These were stopped out at just above b/e.

Obviously, if we're too greedy, then we want the small wins to be harvested even more strongly, but the idea is to get a stable consistent EA, not one which is spectacular, but then rubbish. More importantly, one which protects our capital.

Yes Aurora took two (losing) trades right after midnight despite my trading hours are set 07:00 to 18:00.

So would you suggest changing the candle size. were u using the BE settings of 75,1? there was some talk earlier about instead of 75% it might be calc 7.5pips. Are you running on a 4, or 5 digit broker. Live, or demo .. (we know demo does not always reflect live results.)

I noticed that your Lady Gi is taking short trades, mine does not?
Someone else had reported this. Did you do anything with the settings or are you running OOTB.

My settings are OOTB with

risk = 2%
trade long/trade short = true
in 2 days 16 winners & 6 loosers - up 17% (yes, I did interfere with a couple of the trades)
Was up 20% before the last looser

Anyone else having issues with short trades?

Mine has taken both, depends probably by the active trend filters, I got none (RSI and MA)

I'm running this on Alpari UK demo. I think they are 5 digit.
Yes, apart from setting a MinCandleSize to 9, the EA runs ootb with the BE settings of 75,1.

Seems to be a bug of some sort. Try changing the Criminal ecn to true. It might fix it.

The relevant code is: -

//Long
if (trend == up && TradeLong && (Open[1] > SlopeVal && Close[1] > SlopeVal) )

//Short
if (trend == down && TradeShort && (Open[1] && SlopeVal && Close[1] < SlopeVal) )

But, I think the last bit is not required because the trend is determined later using the following code: -

if (Open[1] > SlopeVal && Close[1] > SlopeVal) trend = up;
if (Open[1] < SlopeVal && Close[1] < SlopeVal) trend = down;

So, unless Steve knows differently I'd go for the following changes: -

//Long
if (trend == up && TradeLong )

//Short
if (trend == down && TradeShort )

OR to maintain the original code: -

//Long
if (trend == up && TradeLong && (Open[1] > SlopeVal && Close[1] > SlopeVal) )

//Short
if (trend == down && TradeShort && (Open[1] < SlopeVal && Close[1] < SlopeVal) )

I have been following your great coding work for several months. Congratulations.

Here follows the reason for this message.

I have been testing Aurora and Gi bots with Alpari UK demo account for a while with good results (Aprox. 70/30 win/loss and more than 80 € profit with Aurora and Gi from 1000 € starting capital). After that I stat a little experiment trading with Aurora and Gi in Alpari UK LIVE and DEMO account simultaneously (just for testing). Here are the interesting results with TF M5 and ootb:

This results are for Aurora (similar ones for Gi)

DEMO Account:
10 won: +1.18, 0.88, 9.60, 1.05, 1.17, 0.76, 7.88, 0.59, 14.72, 17.00 = +54.83 €
2 Lost: -10.17, -9.83 = -20

LIVE Account:
4 won: +0.33, +0.15, +0.85,+0.98 = +2.31 €
8 Lost: -6.46,-0.81,-6,85,-7.43,-6,84,-6.36,-6.25,-0.44 = -41.44€

It is fantastic: Just almost the opposite results (great fellows these Criminals!)

Inmediatly I was thinking about it. The main reason is Slipage (great slipage when you come into and when you go out the trade). That is why in demo you never will be little negative values as -0.44 but you see +0.59 or similar (trailing stop at work). Broker computar calculate exactly when they will let you go out the trade but with a little price to pay.
O.K. when you come into the trade slipage could be even worst (10 pips or more due to volatility).

Please, think about this because could abort all your work.

Glad it was of help.
I'm only running Aurora from Frankie open to the US close. I turn it off for the Asian session because 1)It's a crap session to trade and 2)I don't want my broker, (if I take this live), to know i'm running a bot.

Haven't checked in the last few hours, but Aurora was rock solid today even with the mad Euro move. That is fantastic and comforting. Lots of small trades with, hopefully, a couple of big ones each day. That would do me very nicely.
