And another thing I already told twice. Aurora is not trading according to the rules of the original system. The chart bellow explains what I'm talking about. As a result Aurora will get different results when comparing with the original system.

With a name like HogdustWilli, you must be a fine person. I love it.

Aurora is the robot, which goes into your expert file.

A subsection of the expert file is called indicators. Click on that, and then
add the other two files here. Close the platform and re-open.

Got it .. thanks. Also mine seems to be working i guess. I have noticed i get alot of arrows but mostly the trade moves in the opposite direction. just this morning i have had 15 triggers. @ trades taken wer positive, 1 negative. The other 12 did not take as the market moved opposite the order. Is that correct?

Lastly, what is the autodirection for and should it be false?

Thanks

Latest update in post 1. It is irrelevant to most of us; it is for anyone daft enough to be trying to run this bot with a crim who refuses to allow an expiry time to be sent with the trade. Setting PendingExpiryMinutes to 0 will stop A sending an expiry time and rely on its own code to delete the trade.

Is it really only yesterday that we started testing this bot seriously? Running total:
Winners: 20
Losers: 6

I was out at the home of a former student this afternoon, showing him how to trend-trade a combo of the W1/NB V10 moving averages....

Steve,

I tried this 0 setting for expiry. What is does is EA turns right around to delete the pending order after it opened it. I guess it might a bug.

Come on! READ POST 1. That is the first post in a tread and most of the time there is very useful and essential information in it. Steve has done work to type this out and to explain everything. It is always in post one (in the post itself or in a manual as pdf-attachment in post one)

It's not so hard........
Your question regarding the files is answered there. Suprisingly enough, there is also a black piece of text called "autodirection" with a lot of words underneath it. I think you can find your answer there. Mainly because that is the same word as in your question, so I think there is a link.....

Good luck, guess some people need it

Ok genius .. I did re read it. And here it is for you ...

Trading direction
None of these filters form part of the OP's system. I include them because they are part of the jiva bot that I have adapted for use here, and because they make sense to me.

The 'Trading Direction' inputs allow you to control the direction the EA can trade. If you only want it to trade in one direction, then set the other to false and turn off AutomateDirection.

It sounds, from what I just read , that by default, long and short should be true and auto direction true.

If we are running this thing OTB long and short are true, and auto direction is false.

Am I missing something here?

I am using the old version that pre-dates the change to the histogram values. I start the EA each day at 7:30AM EST and run it until 12:30PM EST only on the EURUSD. I had 4 wins and 1 loss. If the restriction to not take a position after closing a position on the same bar was being obeyed, the results would be 4 wins and 0 losses.

Hey Steve,

I have set the EA to stop trading at 18.

Meanwhile it took a short trade at 18.02, which I closed manually.

So there might be a small bug there, not crucial, but just fyi.

Today I broke even. (im still using "your" rules

Latest update in post 1 guys. I have added all the hidden stuff - great ideas, guys.

I have based all the 'pending' fill/closure decisions on the Bid, as this is what we see on our charts unless we have them set up to show the Ask as well; newbies do not even know this feature is available.

This may need adjusting in future. We shall see.

Sorry, I normally don't flame/attack anybody. I'd rather help. But sometimes I just can't resist....

So, here I go.
The automate direction isn't part of the original system and when people say they use it OOTB, then they use the EA without changing the inputs.

Trade long and short are by default(OOTB) set to true, so the EA can trade both ways. Automate detection is false, so the automate trend detection doesn't overrule the trade long/short inputs that are on true.

If you set the automate direction to true, the bot only trades in the direction of the trend it does see. So if the trend is up, automate detection is on and trade long and short is true, the EA WONT trade short. Even though trade short is set to true. It is overruled by the automate direction detection

If you manually want it to trade only one way, you have to set automate direction off and only buy/short to true and the other to false.

Hope it is clear now.

I loaded the latest version of Aurora at 5:30 GMT this morning and let it run OOTB.
Until 17:00 GMT it took 13 trades, 7 losers and 6 winners, -1.

If I only consider trades taken between 6:00 GMT and 16:00 GMT (which I think is 8:00 to 18:00 CET) then the first and last two trades do not count and Aurora did +5 and -5 for BE!

Hehe. You are just an amateur when it comes to flaming.

Not to worry; there have been a few idiotic posts lately by 'contributors' who clearly cannot be bothered to read post 1 properly, or even at all. Too many more and I will do my usual and restrict posting in the thread to those who know what they are talking about. I always hope to avoid this; it is usually a triumph of hope over experience.
