I developed the dashboard for forex i.e. never really intended it to be used for anything other than currencies. At this stage I can't afford the time to venture into other instruments. Sorry that Gold is not working right on your platform

I wonder how you can change the Dashboard to display the pip's right for the Gold.
My broker is 5 digits and gold is two. For example, the ADR appear pip's multiplied x10.
You can set the Dashboard to indicate the num. Pip's for Gold correctly ..?

My robot development has been for dukascopy JForex. I've been considering how I can make something that will work on all forex platforms with very little extra work e.g. mt4, mt5, ninja, jforex etc.
I specifically want to be able to give something to those who already have my mt4 pipware suite ... not possible if I develop robot only for JForex. To this end, I've started doing most of the 'engine' of my robot in c++. I've worked out how I can access my engine via all the platforms mentioned above.
One of the main reasons for doing this is that sales of my pipware suite have almost covered my development costs i.e. the hours I spent creating it ... even though it got hacked, sold by others etc. I want to ensure that my previous customers have something to move on to.
From now on, I'm offering the pipware suite at a 75% discount ... gives me just enough to cover the time spent maintaining email questions etc.

In the early days of this thread I discussed the importance of market hours. My trading style requires a superior understanding of market hours.
Although I'm quite happy with the pipware dashboard, the perfectionist in me has never been happy with the need for people to enter timezone offsets. I have the same issue with the clocks on my website.
I worked out how to overcome this in my java code for JForex (part of the robot). But that is not suitable for MT4 etc. I need to figure out how to do it in c++. This is not easy

Calendar Systems are simply time systems with a maximum resolution of one day. The Gregorian system is the most widely used calendar system today (the ISO system is basically a derivative of this). However, there are many other calendar systems as well. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) is a widely used civil time system. UTC is adjusted for earth rotation at longitude 0 by the use of leap seconds (This is not predictable, only as necessary). Most local time systems are based on UTC but are also adjusted for earth rotation so that daylight hours are similar everywhere. In addition, some local times include daylight savings time (DST) adjustments to shift the daylight hours during the summer.

I might have a simpler solution for calling your Java code from MT4. I haven't seen your program, so I cannot tell with 100% certainty that it will apply to your situation. Nothing new in terms of thv strategy. All I did for THV was create the mini charts and rewrote the trix and coral indicators to be more efficient. The indicators do the same job as the free indicators on the thv thread so no huge advantage getting mine.
So what do I have to offer? I've created a suite of all my mt4 indicators e.g. dashboard, charts etc. These are very professionally crafted as I have been a contract programmer for many years. It took me 100's of hrs to craft these at my own cost i.e. every hour spent on the indicators was an hour less earning from my contracting business ($60 USD/hr).
I offered the indicators to the forex community for $50 to help offset my contracting loss. After purchase, there's been a number of people that have donated extra money (thanks
).
I never set out to make money from the indicators (a profit) so now that I've almost recovered my contracting investment, I've reduced the cost to $11.99. I'm still happy to get extra donations too
Currently I'm working on a big project to automate my trading. I can manual trade OK but work/life balance is screwed. I live in New Zealand and the best trading time is my late evening and through the night. I don't plan moving (love NZ) so I can't see trading as my 'day job'.
I will offer that (my 'robot') to the community as well. Those that helped by supporting me with the suite will be looked after ... think of it like the story of the little red hen

Thanks for your comments. After much thought, I will stick with c++. Partly because it's always been a language I've wanted to learn and this project gives me the opportunity :nerd:
I also want to be able to compile to native code on each of the operating systems the robot will run. Again just another personal challenge for myself. I work in linux a bit and wouldn't mind contributing to the open-source community ... most things are c++ in that world.
This weekend I tackled a windows open-source build. I downloaded the source for the chromium project (from google). It took me a while to set up my environment using VS2010 c++ express edition ... I had to install the direct x development kit and the windows 7 SDK and WDK.
Once I got it all set up, it took more than an hour to compile but a great sense of satisfaction when I could launch the web browser from my own compilation efforts. A bit like being a cook ... combining all the ingredients with a successful outcome
Feel free to offer comments on hooking java from MT4. I know how to go the other way (wrap c++ inside java). I don't mind a few technical items being discussed in this thread.

I haven't purchased your pipware product, but as far as I can tell, you're trying to recode you whole program in c++ for integration in MetaTrader.

My trading algorithm needs to know where we are in the trading day (at any instant). What I need is UTC (think GMT ... already discussed by me plenty ).
My previous method of getting current time (pipware dashboard) is by looking at your PC time and asking your windows operating system for the timezone. But this doesn't work correctly for all countries
. The new robot will connect to a time server (out on the internet) to get the current time of any instant 
Tick time is a big problem. Issue is that MT4 brokers supply ticks at their server's time zone. This is totally unrelated to your pc time. I can get the current UTC time from the internet and do a calculation ... but ... what if we want to back test? How do we determine where we are in a trading day if we don't know how the historical ticks relate to world markets? We can't just assume the broker time offset ... DST may have occurred in the historical ticks putting everything an hour out!
Another frustration is that MT4 broker time 'freezes' over the weekend. Therefore, any attempt to determine broker timezone by comparing with a time server over the weekend is useless.
Why do I make a big deal over this? Check out two mt4 platforms supplied by two different brokers in different time zones ... have a look at the daily and H4 candles. See the difference!
For my strategy, daily candles end at NY 5pm. As far as I'm concerned a 24 hr forex day starts and ends at 5pm NY. Think about it ... your platforms start typically at Sunday 5pm (NY) and stop at Friday 5pm (NY) breaking the week into 5 x 24 hr periods.
