does mt4 write out to log on trade execution?

I was just wondering if anyone knows if mt4 writes out to a log file when it places trades or closes trades? Or if there is a toggle to turn that on and off?

Look in the logs folder.

You will find a file with the datestamp - today would be 20110829. A bunch of stuff is logged there, including trades.

The logs folder is in the Metatrader folder. e.g. C:\Program Files\Your brand - Metatrader\logs

Note that if you are running Windows 7 or Vista, with the program installed in the default Program Files folder, then this is probably not happening because of default permission issues. The guidelines on where to store application data files have only been around for about 10+ years, but somehow MetaQuotes never paid any attention to this.

Simple solution is to re-install MT in another folder.
