Is there a indicator anywhere which measures the veolicity of price movement and its acceleration of sorts?

To my understanding, to measure the 'speed' of price can be seen just by looking at the angle of a moving average. I guess a fast MA's angle will be more representative of short term movements.

Have a search on indicators that share the words 'ma' and 'angle'. I'm sure you'll find something.

Also, you might be interested in the rate of change (ROC). When the rate of change is increasing, the 'velocity' of the price is increasing. or shall we say acceleration ? Nevertheless here's the code

ROC = Pi - Pi-n,
Pi - the price of the current period,
Pi-n - the price of the period, which is located n periods back from the current one.
As usual, they use the relative (in percentage) value of the velocity of the ROC:
ROC% = 100% * (Pi - Pi-n) / Pi-n

Thanks for that is there one which also measures the up down pip movement when a candle stick is actually forming not just the range of pips the candlestick has when its finished forming if that makes sense?

Not sure what you are trying to do. By comparing current bar high/low to the bar opening doesn't give you want you want?

I just want to see if looking at how price is moving before a bat closes gives me any bias on the market movement thats all. So i guess there isnt any indicators that do this then?

My point is that by comparing current price to current unfinished bar open already display that information. If now is more than open then price is moving up, reverse is down. Of course that can be made into a indicator, but that will be a very simple one.

Thanks for this im not sure you understand or im getting confused, i need something to tell me the movement of pips within a candle that hasnt finished yet or that has finished. So for example a finished painted candlestick could be 30 pips but whilst it was forming and open it could have actually moves 70 pips with the up and down movements. I need something to tell me in perticular the movements of the pips when the candle is still open. hope that makes sense.

most indicator produce a value for unfinished bar, you just has to take the last value for bar[0], if you want for the finished bar, then use the value for bar[1], there's no difference in the indicator.

Is this something like what you are looking for?
(Gives an alert if moves x pips (mMove) in whatever time you set (mTimeMins) and will not alert again for x minutes (mWait))
