Why do you close the trade before the NY session opens? I would think that VP's predictions are made for an entire day of trading, not just a portion of the day. Why trade VP's daily predictions for the Asian and European sessions to the exclusion of the NY session?

Thanks for the words of encouragement. To answer your question, I will offer up a few observations based on months of VP data testing in a variety of ways.

It has been my observation that VP predicted high/low data is less useful after the opening of the NY session (around 8am est). This is especially true on Big News Days. I have watched good trades go the wrong way after a major news announcement too many times when using a purely "set & forget" trading system as we did in our forward test in Feb. Managing trades on those days would have produced very good results, but because we had agreed not to close trades until 5pm est, the results were most often not very good on open trades. (one of our testors, robrob, was using a strategy that had this happen most days).

I believe the best trading is achieved when the first p/h or p/l is reached and then a trade is executed. If the "system" misses the first p/h or p/l but triggers on the second p/h or p/l, the trade is not likely to turn out very well without managing. Proper entry on the first predicted value is very important. When this happens, the success rate increases dramatically. For this reason, I like to enter my orders around 6pm est and then check their status every three or four hours when possible. I realize this does not constitute a true "set & forget" system, but it does maximum positive results. The alternative is to do what I wrote about earlier; that is, enter the orders and close everything before the NY sesssion (or move stops to B/E , or locked in profit).

Another interseting thing is that most of the Asian pairs (JPY, AUD & NZD) will hit both p/h and p/l before the NY session opens. Depending on where you live and your schedule, it is usually possible to identify either a p/h or p/l on one of these pairs before midnight est. If your "system" did not enter a trade for you, it might be possible to manually enter one with appropriate s/l and t/p. I have done this many times with very good results.

As you can see, I use a liberal dose of discretion when trading with VP data. However, this does not diminish the value of using VP with a truly "set & forget" system. I manage trades to maximize gain. But I am still trading Strategy #4 without managing until 7am est, and in the first two days of this week I have gained about 120 pips on single lot mini account trades. That's not too bad. I plan to tweek the strat a little more later this week and will post the results on the weekend.

If you learn anything about VP usage, please post for our benefit (no need to lurk.......lol!).............

Earlier in this thread I explain using a 4 hour Stoch as a trade indicator; this column is used for that indicator.

Thanks for the welcome. I am a full time Forex trader, I do nothin else except trade Forex, spend time with my wife and kids, while every now and again getting in a round of golf and some fishing.

A quick side note, although there are a number of pairs displayed on the spreadsheet, I only trade GBP/USD and very, very occasionaly USD/CHF.

I will try to attach a chart that I produce every day at around 09H00 (GMT+2) for my clients. I have changed it to include one of your strategies. I am sure it will make sense to you straight away.

I also have another source, besides VP, for daily predictions, however I have not included them at this stage in the calculations at the bottom of the sheet. The calculations incuded are based entirely on VP information only.

Please have a look at the layout and if you are happy with it, I am happy to remove the section with Aden's predictions and upload the spreadsheet for everyone to use?

Yes, Wayne....could you also explain a bit more on your entry/exit methods? What time do you start looking for entry? Does it matter if low or high is hit first?

Attached please find my spreadsheet, including today's data, it's not great, but it works for me. :-)

With Vantage point my system is really simple. I calculate the highs and lows as per the spreadsheet, take 20 pips off the highs and enter a limit short with a TP at 25 pips (Default, sometimes get changed) and a SL at 50 Pips back. I do the opposit for long trades.

I place my trades between 8 and 9AM (GMT+2), I try not to be later than that, and depending on if the high or low been breached already, I'll only take the trade the other way. In other words, if the predicted low has already been hit for that day, I do not now go and place a short trade, only the long trade? Also watch the predicted close, sometimes you can ignore that rule, but not often.
