I think you have too much Max Bars in History and in Chart.
Go to extras / options / diagrams and make a smaller value there.
How to opt out annoying user signatures ??

Hi Strat,

I have been trying to get your attention for some time , the clocks on your website is 1hour behind time, and so is the dashboard .
I am at EST and we are now on daylight saving time . so we are 1 hour ahead of the dashboard at the moment.
You might want to have a look at it

you are correct ... now fixed. You may not realise the irony of this ... let me explain.

My trading strategy relies on data calculated from market sessions e.g when Tokyo, London and New York people are actively trading. I also like to avoid major new events like NFP.

Those that have followed me know that I consider a trading day as starting at New York 5 pm rather than GMT midnight. After all, most of our retail trading platforms have data feeds that start at NY Sunday 5pm and end at NY Friday 5pm. Using my method the trading week is split into 5 equal 24 hr periods.

The downside to MT4 is that when daylight saving occurs in any of the countries of interest, we need to make an adjustment in the dashboard market hours area. If you're a manual trader, that little bit of pain is tolerable i.e. pain vs benefit.

Indicators like this are not appropriate for back testing. A robot that uses market sessions needs very good algorithms to cope with changes in daylight saving. Also news events that have occurred in the past. This is an area I've spent a lot of effort trying to get right.

Why do I find your comment ironic? I'm being such a perfectionist with calendar issues in my robot but totally overlooked keeping the clocks updated on my website

Further to last post on clocks and sessions ...

I needed to learn how java copes with daylight saving, time zones, gmt, utc etc.

Here's a summary of some interesting things I found:

 

  1. Originally, January and February weren't part of the calendar. So only 10 months March to December ("Dec"=10 aka decimal)
  2. July and August named after Julius and Augustus Caesar. July had 31 days and August 30 days. Augustus, not wanting to be seen as inferior to Julius made August have 31 days to match Julius
  3. Up until mid 1500 AD, the Julian calendar was used. Leap years were every 4 years. This was bad as by 1500, the seasons had slipped by a few days.
  4. In mid 1500, the calendar was changed to the Gregorian calendar where leap years are not always every 4 years. Bet some of you didn't know that! Also, 10 days were skipped in a particular year to realign the seasons with dates.
  5. GMT is based on solar methods i.e. rotation of the earth. The natural slowing of the earths rotation is not an issue to GMT as GMT time is sychronised with the sun i.e. solar time.
  6. For scientific purposes the duration of a second is measured using atomic clocks. The time being reported from an atomic clock is called UTC time.
  7. Because of the slowing of the earths rotation, the number of seconds in a year slowly increases! This means, every 3-7 years, a 'leap second' has to be added to the UTC calendar to keep it close to GMT (solar time).
  8. The rule is that GMT and UTC time are not allowed to differ by more than +/- 0.9 seconds. So for general public, UTC and GMT are equivalent ... for scientists that need accurate time measurement, UTC must be used.

If referring to the mini-charts that use the font file ... they really do bog your system down. Some very serious maths going on with the candles being made from many horizontal lines stacked on each other.

The mini-charts that don't use the font file certainly perform better. I have endeavoured to make all my indicators (apart from original mini) as efficient as they can be. Dependent on the number of charts open, speed of your PC etc each person will have a slightly different user experience.

I ran a test on my own PC with 16 MT4 platforms (from different brokers) running the dashboard simultaneously. Performance was very good.

i do hope the natural slowing down of the earths rotation doesn't grind to a halt before i secured my pension in pips

it can be a bugger when different programming languages treat time differently, though it's a blessing that manuals these days are only a click away..

It's not required to download a new dashboard. The dashboard has settings to adjust market hours to whatever you prefer.

Have a look at the settings and you will see options for changing timezone of New York, London etc whenever daylight savings changes for those locations. This is something that is not automatic .... a downside of using MT4 code.

I'm writing java code right now that solves this problem but that is for Dukascopy JForex platform.

Works on any MT4. So depends on what "instruments"/"symbols" your broker offers.

Dashboard can be used on multiple charts.

It happens with Fxpro but not with Fxopen. It happens in all templates, even though they both use Metatrader 4.0 build 402. Any ideas ?

Hi,

I have been looking all over the place for a THV Coral with a custom MA period parameter but can't find one. Does it exist, anybody has any information about that or something that would be similar ? I am basically looking for a THV coral where I could enter any MA period I want.
