DislikedThis isn't really about programming but this is probably the most approprite forum.
Just got MT4 up and running in Ubuntu Linux! I'm too paranoid using windows these days with the numerous trojans/hackers/backdoors/rootkits and after wasting about 2 hours installing XP Again (!) because of AVG which is the worst antivirus software ever I finally got too pissed off with it all.
If anyone wants to know heres a quick how-to:
1. Install wine (sudo apt-get install wine), or install it from synaptic package manager
2. Copy MFC42.dll from c:windowssystem32...Ignored
Just installed MT4.exe on Linux following the suggestions given here and elsewhere. But, there was a curious observation.
The candle at EURUSD15 2009.12.03 13:15 is a Doji (that is the OPEN and CLOSE values are same) with the value of 1.51170 when run under WindowsXP Home but under Linux (Ubuntu - Lucid Lynx version) it shows the OPEN value to be 1.51180 and the CLOSE value to be 1.51170. This is a one Pip difference--a small difference. Could there be bigger differences happening elsewhere? Can we trust to trade with this software on Linux?
Hope to see a reply to this.
Bye.
