MTM does indeed show this type of bar as a SO. However, it should be noted that the bar alone is only 1/3 of the picture. In order for the bar to be a SO, it MUST be in a strong market and it MUST be followed immediately by a rapid increase in price.

If all 3 of these are not satisfied, then it is not a SO. Normally, we see the rapid increase in price happening in the same bar. This gives us the usual SO 'looking' bar which closes near the high. If price were to simply 'drift' back up after the sharp down move, it would not be much of a 'trap'.

How does your example measure up?

Check the huge amount of selling volume on that move into 1.44 on 6E futures, and the rejection bars that have followed. Usually sellers win out in cases like this, and we see more downside before any consolidation and move up.

Similarly, check the significant buying support on DX and break of a recent and peek above trendline. If DX closes above 75.2, we may be seeing additional weakness in S&P tomorrow, and a possible risk off session with the depressing news from Ben. Amazing how all these work hand in hand; there were similar type signals in 6B, 6A and others. So far, in EU, this has played out for 60-70 pips ... IMHO there is more to come, before decision time on reaching 1.45 spot forex (if it has the gusto to get there - still an option, but somehow it's been delayed)

I'll also use this as an opportunity to throw in a spot fx chart - notice the (citibank) volume isn't as prevalent and easy to read, hence why I try to use it in conjunction with futures volume.

I am seeing two prominent rejections of the 1.442 region, leaving some prevalent pin bars, where we know there are sellers waiting. The chart is currently at a last stand (dashed) trendline, closing on the day's lows as 5pm NY approaches. If it dips further, 43328 is a minor POC and support of a prev high, but I think the 1.43 level of yest's low & S1 & supply zone & even number, is calling IMHO.

Hard to discount another shot at 1.44 to get to 1.45, but, given the strength of DX and the general disinterest of everything else including S&P turning down, we may be looking to have risk off in Asia or London, and very likely NY tomorrow, given Ben's depressing message. (Didn't he look depressed too, lol?)

That pin bar and trigger rejection(s) are and can often be telegrams from smart money, for the start of a significant decline. Don't mean to be salivating, but 200+ pips would suit me just fine.

Unfortunately this isn't a follow up any more as the previous chart was removed as "bickering". Nice posts as usual though.

i would be cautious with shorts. lots of high volume coming in on down bars

First post, follow up post... Who cares. Posting here has become a waste anyway between the "bickering" and lack of participation / learning. She was a great place while it lasted and hopefully Malc can return and build her back up because right now she is dead.

today market moved lower in asia and london, met with massive buying in ny.
Getting to area of support here, dependong on tommorow ill be looking for 4550 next week.
