I see there is some interest in developing an auto-trader, so I have uploaded a first version to http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...02#post4709302

I ask contributors to refrain from discussing the EA here; this thread is about learning to trade manually.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. You can trust in EA's or not. They have advantages as well as disadvantages that users have to learn to live with.

I also think it's a good thing to keep the discusion of a trading system apart from the development of any EA related to it, and from what I've seen in SH's threads, that's his way of thinking too (He'll eventually open up a thread devoted entirely to his EA), so stop bashing this iniciative, there's room for us all, and also keep in mind that SH shares his work for free so what's with complaining ¿?

I do think that when using an EA it's important to be 100% familiarized with the strategy it's attempting to trade in order to spot bugs, errors and to prevent disaster. I don't beleive in "set and forget" EA's, at least not for real money

To end my post, I just want to say that any system that has a well defined set of rules is a good candidate for automation. We all know a bot doesn't have the "market feeling" some traders find necessary to trade, I personally find it's a really cheap price to pay in exchange for just watching money grow while jerking off to my favorite music or movies

Me too! This system is the best! But my problem with forex has always been the hours. Any suggestions?
For now I try to catch a pre London trade like the EU last night (+44pips, thank you very much!) and get up early to see if anything else is setup.

I took this trade last night on AU. At the time of the trade price was below the Red TMA line.It was against the Stochs but price was below the TMA so I took it just trying to scalp a few pips. My problem is why did the lines move thats a pretty big shift in the lines. Not sure what happened any suggestions?
Trade was at the blue arrow.

This has been answered/discussed multiple times in the past.

The TMA indicator is a "repainting" indicator, looking back at historical values is not possible (unless you use the "True" version)

However as this is about trading and not looking back at what might have been, the TMA is fine as is.

Well hard to trust a signal off the TMA then right. I have been trying to watch it more but maybe I will have to reconsider this. When you look back one could get the impression that you could trade the channels. The first charts I posted showing my tades I didn't have the TMA on so will consider taking it back off chart.

I would just like to add one possible scenario to this thread not directly pertaining to the development of an EA, but of a very helpful indicator. I would love to hear from members that are familiar with dashboards and the coding of them as I have found them to be valuable. I currently use one for another trading strategy, and it has cut down on my screen time, while allowing me to maintain trading manually. I am able to decide which trades I want to enter while the dashboard monitors trading conditions across all timeframes and currency pairs. Believe me, it's a great tool.

thinking about this what would be required

a) I am assuming you are talking about an MT4 dashboard, not a seperate application (which is possible but a lot more difficult)

b) what information would need to be displayed??

i) what quadrant the PA was currently in of the TMA, ie. OB/OS/Upper/Lower
ii) the current values up/down of the 4hr / 1hr stochs
iii) the retracement indicator value and it's direction increasing/decreasing

then of course the indi would need to have in it's parms all the pairs it is to monitor.

To create an indicator that did not need to have the other charts open would be possible but the processing required on each tick to calculate the data would mean you would have to have a very fast computer

the other option of course would be to have the existing Kevinator indicator (which currently monitors all this information anyway) post the values into memory, to be picked up by the dashboard which would run on it's own clean chart (ie. candles removed etc. so only dashboard is displayed)

All in all sounds like a very "doable" project.

yes you cannot trade off the TMA Overbought/Oversold values alone

the combination though of 1hr,4hr stochs, RF Finder & TMA makes for profitable entries.

EA's never work for long unless they hardly turn a profit. Why bother? This method is sound, learn it and trade it. That alone is enough...

my result , only trading the MOM trades yesterday from Frankfurt open to London close was -37 pips, so not a great day for the system., but that one day from 20 for me to make a decision is it a great sys or not.

Why would you trade this pair when Kevin has said on numerous occasions to not trade this pair? Have you had previous success in trading the pair?

To me it's a bit like watching paint dry these days with this currency and personally I can move away from the rules because I get bored with the lack of movement, so I don't go near it.

As I see your chart, your buy is around 80.17 and the top TMA band is at 80.21, so allowing for spread I cannot understand the reason for taking the trade.

We can all learn from others point of view. I look forward to your reply.

Well i traded this pair because it was the only one that met all the criteria. Also, i thought this was one of the major pairs. I waited for the RF after ir passed the bottom TMA band and i was hoping it would explode upward. If Kev said to not trade this pair then i missed that post.

that's why I don't trade it.

also as I have a small spread, but that's realy hard work to grab some pips at this pair

stay at the major, eu, gbpusd, audusd, usdchf, usdcad and if you can in the right session europe open to london close.
