Yikes a crazy market for the euro. I am short the pound at 1.6395 and pondering taking profits now, but will hold a bit more. May end up with little. fti good to see you here today, and have been following the interesting posts of the last day. Good trading everyone!

i still wondering how market drop 40 pips rally 65 in seconds?
is really wierd market makers huh?
if i quote down 40 pips next quote i quote down 50 pips.

can someone please explain to me?
figs came out good for usd.
market maker qoutes down 40 pips, then he quotes up 65 to fill large selling order?
so that he cannot get out and get splashed in market?
logic? anyone.
please someone introduce me this broker
i like him very very very much.
will trade with him for the rest of my life.

any one have time and sales or log of sequences of quotes?
this one i saw, and i put all my years dealer behind it.

Just like in casinos, if you count cards on the blackjack table and start winning a lot, the bulky guys come to make sure you stop winning

Since ECB are expected to rise rates more in the future, market participants seem to be positioning before every ECB rate announcement. Sometimes it's a few days before, sometimes it's the week before, when the E/U starts going up with no apparent reason and despite Greece problems.
Do you guys see this particular behaviour of the market lately?

I'm trying to imagine how and when MM will start positioning themselves before such events( when a rate increase is highly probable), you know I'm kinda trying to understand better how the market works.

i not sure MyTbo,
for me they send pretty girl to distract.
this round is premedietated.
is very clear.
before tri came speak earlier, some green party chap from germany made very blunt statement that markets ignored, and before that thanks to GEfx, John already told market to expect him.

What really baffles me is, that with figs coming and all triggers at the sell buttons, the markets jerked a rally for 1 split second taking out range high. That one is cake for sure. I nearly jump off my chair. And guess what my heart was doing.

oh , jack, thanks, now fully understood.
Whats emily janitor doing in the dealing room?
no wonder unemployment is peaking 15%

So seems is degraded from business to computer games.
I would had loved emily held that price, i would had given it my whole net worth.

there has been the press conference from Mr Trichet. Usually it takes up to 1 hour, till this event is over.
So from my experience it was all according to his words. Journalists are allowed to ask a lot of question for 45 minutes.
The reaction have been very close to his words. So not the US Unemployment figs and some "special" Dealer or MM mo. Only reaction to Mr. Trichet.

At least that is what i traded at that time ...

jac, if investigated and audited , they would claim bumb quote or com glitch or something.
This chaps need be eye balled.
Sure hope us treasury knows where to start.
the tier used to be good name, wonder what happened.
May be should look under the carpet, maybe a big parking lot underneath already.

Yep.I am happy where I am, finishing a home for family and going away soon.
Markets are getting very fast.
Regarding eyeball, I think there is a new 20 minute rule in the US for the dealers/brokers to make contact and say "off quote" or something.

Any dealer can understand , with figs and talk, can get very hairy. "No hold my price" is respected, but to bumb quote creating wild volatility,without willingness to deal and transaction is in fact scratching , and is non ethical market practise. This is major offence. I like to see them being called up to explain. I like see how they can explain their market disruption.

I had seen untiered names being cautioned and fined for this . But for a tier name is a damn shame.
Already there are CBs and govts that ban the forex retail business for these reasons. And now a tier bank goes and prove it correct. Is really a shame.

be assured tri is a veteran public fig,not like me, most of his presentation is probably scripted and he has the finace to not say misleading statementse during Q & A.
Iwas watching the incident, sure smells of something fishy and rotten.

Hi fti and all, I have not seen any comments from the German Green party, but did see that Merkel's party is now supporting her plan to force private holders of Greek debt to participate in the Greek rescue. That sets up a battle with Trichet and the ECB, which are strongly against that. fti, I am not sure how Euro banks can assume that risk, so I guess they do not have mark to market restrictions when looking at their balance sheets. In any case, the German plan will be a technical default, and it should be interesting to see how many "volunteer" to extend their holdings. Maybe today's move against the euro was a sign that the market is getting tired of "kicking the Greek can down the road". Anyway, I did not trade the euro today and instead went for the GBP. Good trading everyone!

proposal to extend the maturities on Greek debt by seven years wouldn’t be sufficient for making Greek debt sustainable.

Greece 5 year credit default swaps hit record high 1,510 bps, what does that tells you?
who cares if the eu rates will be hike in the future. Its already all inbulit, or the major parts of it.
today there is no rate hikes,period.
and they cannot agree.

When they come out of powder room hugging each other then is different story.

Yeah interesting.
Sovereign debt has been easy to hold on banks balance because the ECB says its risk free (low margin requirement).
Germany may actually just want more capital required backing the instrument.
Don't forget a technical default may hurt the US as much, because a lot of the swap risk(hedge) is in the US.
If true and the paper blows up, the hedge needs to work. Time to pay..

ECB is trying to avoid any involvement in any "technical default" solution. They are afraid of DOMINO effect..

Trich said many times, ECB is CB of 17 counties and more then 350Mil PPL.. I think here we are seeing some more pressure on Greek Parliament passing the Ball in their court.
Again, with or without Greece, EU project is still alive, and very alive. Any voluntary agreement sending very BAD picture for the whole BOND market increasing the risk [price] on German, France and other Countries [makes financing and liquidity expensive], something ECB wants to avoid
