JR read those multiple times, drawn some inspiration from them however from where i'm standing and with my limited knowledge in the area, seems your ellipses are form fitted while i'm trying to find a somewhat repetitive nature of drawing them. the biggest issue is the proper way to keep the chart scaled, if you change the price scale you can modify the slope of the ellipse and the projected target... any thoughts on this?
Does anyone know of any free charting software which allows the drawing of ellipses with a diagonal orientation?

There are relationships between the ellipses that aren't form fitted. The axis lines between the ellipses have specific geometric relationships. The size/ratio of one to the next are specific geometric relationships.

To get them to work in mt4, you have to use the 1:1 ratio setup. Unfortunately, it's difficult to dial in and goes out the window altogether if your broker uses 5th decimal pricing.

my quest/question is this: if price moves Ato B retraces b to C and expands the original move to D, the end of the expansion can be/it is on the same ellipse that connects the A B C

Ellipses (imho) can spawn from either the reflection as JR has shown (there's much harmony, timing, angles, arcs and such in reflected waves) or as the completion of a sine wave, which would be seen as your CD. The reflection point instead of a normal reversal point would be the midpoint of BC.

Thoughts along these lines....fwiw.

have found merit in looking at the slope of AB to help with CD, not so sure about the ellipse that contains AB..have tried to think about price movement in 3d not just left to right. need to give some more thought on how the reflection from an ellipse affects the directionality. not sure i understand the "diagonal orientation of ellipses but MetaTrader 5 has a different way of drawing circles, ellipses that i found interesting
I'm not sure if it helps or muddies the waters, but think about what an ellipse represents in 3d. The simple version is a conic section. If you can understand that, then it' not too much of a stretch to see an ellipse as a section of a torus but viewed at an angle that is not straight on. Otherwise you get a circle. From there, a torus is just part of a vortex. Then you can visualize how the cycles are move in out of a 4d structure which when plotted on a 2d chart results in a price chart. Notice you can also see what amounts to a sine wave in the 2nd image.

There's several ways to skin the proverbial cat regarding ellipses and circles. Jenkins described the use of circles to gauge measured moves (much like your assessment of relationships AB to CD being seen in an arcs edge drawn from AB and copied to CD), he also uses circles/arcs to define exhaustion of parabolic thrusts with amazing accuracy.

One of his favorite techniques is fold-back or mirrored images. The two applications of reflections, imho, involve wave terminations, the following movement will have mirrored aspects of timing, angles and boundary arcs drawn from the extremes. Likewise, price action unfolding in a sine wave or action/reaction will exhibit reflective properties from the midpoint of the BC. A good book to help with the basics of action/reaction mirrors, John Crane's Advanced Swing Trading........ from there you can build and incorporate your own additions of arc/ellipse/circles

Price had good interaction with the second ellipse. Maybe it (price) has unfinished business...or maybe not.

After price makes a confirmed reaction to some type of line (trendline, channel line, pitchfork, moving average), there are geometric shapes in these charts (as with the ellipses in my previous post) which price travels around or within to make it to its ultimate destination. Discovering them (in foresight) is a major part of the holy grail in trading.

as for the previous post with the ellipses..sorta look like fractals, but not sure exactly how you came up with them..

The pivots were derived from just testing to see which ones would give a credible drawing.

What charting software are you using to draw the diagonal ellipses? What drawing points did you use? I need that capability like a fish needs water.
