If you get that error once in a while, there is no need to worry. The EA is trying to set a TP/SL to close to the current price, and the br0ker doesn't allow that. It just happens and doesn't effect the working of the EA.

If you get it all the time and/or no trades are taken, than try setting br0ker is ECN to true.

Thanks Jules but I cannot find a setting for ECN on the Beast's inputs. I figured that was the problem but I do not know how to change it.

Hi Steve,

I have a question regarding this chart I'm attaching. I've been demoing The Old Beast and The Experimental Beast since January and right now I'm running The Beast with the default settings.

I never saw this happen with the Experimental Beast. I have a box trade open with two position on the EURGBP like it should, everything was fine. Then it went down past the Short Take Profit number, but my position didn't exit. I now have the re-entry line for the long trade if it goes back down to this level. My guess is that the bot is assuming the Short trade was closed and the long trade is the only one open and if it goes down to the line it should start recovery mode. My question is, if the Buy goes up to the TP number and hits the magenta line, will the Short go into recovery? I'll see what actually happens when it gets there, but I'm checking to see if this has happened to you or anyone else.

I have this issue, which is need to explain. If i dont close the platform, now on USDCHF barcount is 161 candles. But if i close the platform and start it again the new barcount for USDCHF is only 140 candles. Why is this happening, is there some problem with barcount funkction?

I recently stumbled on the original TOB thread and tried the EA on demo since last week thursday, the results are great!

Regarding the function of recovery I have a question, I read the entire TOB-thread but couldn't find an answer; yesterdaymorning the GBPCHF opened the box-trade pendings, both filled. Last night, the short closed with a nice 67 pip profit, and the price kept going down another 80 pips, leaving the long trade at an -200 pip count.

Seeing the chart, the re-entryline is at 50 pips below the entry, so 150 pips away. [see attached pic].

Is this correct? I can happily see the DD, but wonder what will happen next.....

For the reversi EA, when I set TP and SL while disabling recovery, the EA first modifies the order to include SL and TP and then re-modifies the order to only set SL. Does anyone know why?

On a completely separate note, I noticed that using OOTB setting except setting SL to 50 and disabling recovery gives some interesting results. The entries are good enough that holding positions long long term gives you surprisingly good results.

Try EU 2010 for starters.

Here is the strategy tester results for part of 2010. I cannot upload the html but I will be happy to provide to anyone interested. I think this can be a partial basis for a long term strategy with a TP based on a profit percentage of the initial balance.

Another post for reversi..

Here is an idea. Since we know that a certain percentage will reverse after x number of candles but we don't necessarily know the pip amount of such reversal, can we open the order after x number of candles in one direction and then close the order at the close of the entry candle? In other words, entry and exit will be time based (open and close of a candle) rather than price based. Assuming we use a reasonable SL, we should be able to take advantage of the high percentages.

hello there, on my live acc, i have opened box trade from 17. may (both BUY and SELL are executed), now the SELL take his TP and the BUY remain in DD about 57 pips. If i use F3 to see global variables, i found that the SELL variable was deleted, but the BUY remains - should it be? It is true that The Beast in the comment on the graph says Boxbuyticketnumber and Boxsellticketnumber = -1, so its OK, the box trade are done, and begin recovery. But what happened, the recovery did not started...
Now i remove myself the BUY global variable and restart the platform... and wait what happened.

may i have a question - why is not the TPs on box trades stealth and hidden from the criminals? In countertrend we have everything hidden from the criminals, but not on the box trading. What about, if we send a TP something like 10 pips away from the real TP, which can be hidden from criminal to avoid bad behavior of the criminal...

Gerry B. you can use The Beast as a US trader but you must turn white box trading off (DoWhiteBoxTrading=false). I was about to ask if anyone from the US has setup with a broker that allows hedging. Please feel free to PM me. I would love to get in on white box trading! Thanks!

Correct. By turning White Box traiding off TB will essentially be the same as TOB. But by using the newest version you get many code fixes and filter options that The Old Beast doesn't have.

Please disregard my question about overseas brokers accepting U.S. clients. I see there are already posts concerning this at ff.

Becouse your stop loss price was hit and order closed, if the stoploss was moved into profit, it's still a stop out and registers as highlited in pink, quite normal. Look at the close price and stop loss, identical. Same if take profit level that was preset and hit, in green.

Hi

I keep getting the following error when backtesting The Beast EA:

"The Beast EURUSD,H1: OrderModify error 1"

I am using default settings, Thinkforex 5 digit-broker

Please Note: I have zero programming/coding knowledge (Total newbie here!) However, I have read through the forum threads and tried to wrap my newbie head around the vast amount of info posted here, of which most of it is technical/code related..I'm still having some difficulty trying to solve this error....Please forgive my ignorance, I'm really trying my best here...honest!

One more question, if I may, there are so many EA's that were created by Steve Hopwood et al (The Beast , Fibo , Reversi, etc..) for which his/their efforts are truly appreciated for sharing his/their knowledge with us, but I am not quite sure what the consensus is as to which one is having the most successful/sustainable results/performance.

Any help would be immensely appreciated...Thanks

Hi CyprusTrader, I am using Beastie and I am wondering why this happen.
Like if there is a sell order, action at sell price 1.5060, how come the stop loss is lower than my action price? say the stop loss is 1.5040. Is it a take profit price? if so, how can I change it to larger profits?

Hi, I am fairly new to these EA's so may be not the ideal person to answer. However, your stop loss in your quoted example has been moved 20 pips in profit (locked in), therefore you must have set a trailing stop or jumping stop in the EA parameters. If you want bigger profits (and bigger chance of draw down) turn these parameters to false and use a recovery option.
