Hi guys,

it's been a few months since I last dropped in and I see now fti has got himself into some sort of argument with The Factory rules and management... went through the last 100 pages to figure out what happened exactly but it seems it's been all deleted. Not that it matters anymore.
Shame.
I remember some time ago fti told us in a moment of anger he's leaving the forum for good (good thing he changed his mind back then ). I said it then and I still think the same today: Thank you fti, you leave something good here. I hope our paths cross again. God bless and God speed.

I remember being in front of the screens when it happened - was like the end of the world, LOL. Well, it wasn't that funny back then. But it was hell of a day and I made a descent killing that night. We tend to get used to things and stop paying attention with time. Emotions are no exception. It's all about the drill I guess.

Ah, I see. The sad virtual reality of a "free" forum living on brokers' ads. Another of my reasons to stay away from here for the past months.
I come back on the thread and fti is gone haha. How unfortunate for me. Anyways, thank you fti, although you may not seethis message, I have spent less time reading and more time internalizing at this point. You have been a great teacher and I value you very much.
After demo testing for a very very long time I've decided to go live, so if anyone could help me with a broker and the leverage calculations I would be very grateful.

be low use 50:1 leverage its more then enough ... i can say Oanda hasnt been bad to me except 2-3 times in 3 years....

and for reference I plan on using about 10K, and I guess at 50:1. Perhaps I should use micro lots as well.

I was wondering if fti had come up with recent suggestions on troop size calculations based on recent market insecurity. I have gotten used to a 1-1-2-5-10-20 skew.

I am not experienced with the oanda platform, but I'll download the demo and check it out, thanks V.

Finally a truly newb question, I personally do not feel that demo trading will be different from real, but any advice/tips for the transition?

is this your first live acc ?
demo to live isnt easy , huge psychological difference ,

ur first live account should be taken as a training account , keep it as small as possible , good chance u will lose it

maximize the longevity of the account with low leverage like 1:20 , get as much training as possible with it

Account leverage is different from real leverage.

Size should depend on max risk per trade (EG.2.5%) and your Stoploss.

Thus a 25pip stop on a 10 000 account risking 2.5% you can trade one lot using 10:1 real leverage (25 pip x $10 per pip =250/10 000=.025 or 2.5%), but you can select 500:1 with your broker. All that will allow you to do is to either trade large size on one position (not suggested) or open more positions (different pairs) as less of your money is tied up in the initial trade. Now if you want to use a 50 pip stop you would need to trade a small size as one lot will make you lose 5% thus you would need to trade 0.5 lot.

Keep real leverage low 10:1 or less while account leverage isnt as important.
