i always look and consider as many time frames as possible ... here is the 2 hour . I think this will clearly show you why I was still bearish . supply hit the market heavy and this bar did not close above 1.3380

But why do you consider 1.3380?

ok thanks...i understand!!!..basically your telling me is the es /eu thing is like a confirmation ...the 2 out of sync , on a larger tf, combined with more definate vsa signals agreeing with a direction would be a strong analogy..is that correct?..es/eu is more of an overall guid kinda thing..regards, RB

There's been no shortage of good answers to this ES/EU thing that has come up, but one thing I don't think I've seen mentioned is the risk-off notion, which is what often drives both of these down. That's a reference to investors not having any risk appetite for equities, or for risk/debt-prone pairs like the euro, so they both happen to go down. They happen to correlate at times like this (although they do not have to) because of this risk aversion notion where the problems related to each of the sectors is highlighted and spotlight-ed.

Traditionally risk aversion has meant a flight to the US dollar, so the levers at work are money flows out of the stock market (because of the risks), out of the euro (because of the debt et all) thus giving strength to the traditional dollar role - how long and how far that will be the case remains to be seen, given the major USD declines we're seeing - but that see-saw is the markets in general.

Think of the correlations we're discussing here as another form of a trend filter; don't ever try to trade the EU down because the S&P is heading down - while it might work, it is a grossly improper way to trade a chart, and as SonofSin said, a possible way to blow accounts. (I had posted a chart that shows the S&P and EU that can be viewed here. - click a multi-day view on the chart, if the S&P is not in session)

The correlations that are being discussed are part of the fundamentals and complicated levers that drive all the markets, including commodities and more. Understanding them can be a good thing, but it is way beyond VSA and not necessary. Getting to know them can be done through daily commentaries like those provided by the LFB here, or by reading books like Ashraf's Laidi's Currency Trading and Intermarket Analysis. LFB intermittently posts videos of the day's mechanics, like the ones here. Like I said - little of it is necessary to trade profitably, but it's nice to know the ongoings.

Not a pro and also not trading GU recently (been focused on oil)... what I see just looking at the daily chart is a very bearish candle today (waiting for the close) with a massive selling tail on the top. Increased volume over yesterday leads me to beleive that we are heading lower this week. I would be interested to see a weak move up into 6350-6360 and a drop from there. This is the highest volume daily close trigger I have on my chart and is right in the middle of the last 4 days worth of POC's which are stacked for the last 6 days in a bearish...

Well I hope someone got into this GU short (I didn't)... played out nicely weak move up into 3680 (ok so I was a little low ) and then dropped. 15min didn't give much but 5min gave a few nice entries.
Today's zone = Tomorrow's opportunity!
