It is a MT4 issue. You are overloading it with so many charts. I have had the same issue before (i.e. MT4 freezing and after a rboot freezing again). The only solution I found to get the MT4 to start was to go to the MT4 directory, profile sub directory and delete some of the chart files. I hope this helps.

A better solution IMHO is to go to the profiles directory and rename the profile you were last using (which MT4 is trying to load) to something else. Restart MT4 and it will be forced to use the profile named default which I always have with no charts.

After the restart into the default profile select your renamed profile from the profile list & it should load your charts, assuming your computer is not busy with other stuff.

yeah, I will try things like that. I actually counted them now (the 40 pairs was more of a guess) and its actually 54 pairs that I'm demoing, I like to stresstest :-).

So Steve, just in case you are wondering, TB can trade 54 pairs at the same time (but MT4 cannot keep up)!

Look in your "Market Watch" box. Is the time updating, and consistent with real time?

That is not the problem as everything in the trade tab keeps updating with new prices.

Yes, I'm getting it.

Fascinating. I particlularly love this comment, "Some traders appear to use stops to provide a level of comfort about the risk they take with their trading.".

I have attracted criticism before now for my attitude to stop losses. No doubt I shall do so again, but the longer I survive forex and begin to thrive modestly, the more I become convinced of these two thingy's:

 

  1. the only thing an initial stop loss does is lock in losses to the benefit of the criminal.
  2. trading lot sizes small enough to allow a massive move against the trade is the key to success. If the trading strategy is good, then the trade will recover eventually. At the very least, remaining in a rubbish trade gives us the opportunity to do something about it.

Of course, point 2 assumes we have the knowledge, experience and understanding to do something about a rubbish trade. I have spent 5 years acquiring this, and so feel confident about trading without a stop loss.

So wait for my, "Damn. I just blew my account again." post around about the middle of this week.

This is the key.

The more I read and learn from my mentors "YOU", the more I believe that trading is not about entries, exits, systems etc. (yes, they give you the edge and Steve's system is THE EDGE!!!! if you ask me but that is not enough) but about money management. If you can truly succeed in that you will never loose a account and will become a truly profitable in the end.

A good read alright. It's taken me a long time to try the 'No stop loss' way of trading but TOB gave me the confidence to go with it. Like Steve says in post 1- Patience and balls of steel.

TOB is still going strong for me on my live account and TB seems to be performing great on demo. It will soon become time for me to go live with it I reckon.

Steve do you think it would be workable to replace TOB with TB whilst trades are open with TOB Live assuming it's done correctly ? Will it recognise the already open trades etc ? Just thinking to the future.

Yes. It took my open trades seamlessly in its stride.

It might be worthwhile stopping white box trading when you load TB onto charts with open trades. It shouldn't make any difference as TB uses Global Variables to store the ticket numbers of box trades so it knows which are which, but we already know the epic benders LUC can throw with this bot.

The latest beast EA took the box trades on both buy&sell orders of GBPCHF pair...

I have buy and sell box trades open on the same pair from the 6th May.

Looking at the chart you can see that the magenta sixths i.e. TP lines have moved massively (well the top magenta anyway ) and left the TP line miles above the magenta. So I was thinking would it be an idea to have the TP re-set to the magenta ?

In this instance the buy would have closed by now, for a smaller profit admittedly but it would allow TB to start recovery on the open sell order.

This could possibly help to clean up trades that look like they may remain open for a very long time trying to reach a TP that is miles away.

It's just a thought. Maybe someone else has an opinion on this.
