I need help finding a new broker. I started with etoro and they are really for beginners, so it's time to switch. I'm Canadian and will be depositing $2,000. I have heard of Oanda and Dukascopy being reputable but I think Dukascopy requires $5k for minimum deposit. I just want a broker that won't kill me on scalping and that delivers quick and easy withdrawals. Hope you guys can help me

Talk to Magix - he's Canadian and with a few years experience behind him - he probably knows what's best there ... My broker is great for scalping but not sure if they're available where you are (IG Index)

There are many good brokers, and there are many factors to take into consideration before choosing one,

Leverage: If you are going to start with a low investment, you may want to choose a broker that offers high leverage. Leverage of 1:500 means that for every dollar you invest, you can actually do $500 worth of trading. High leverage makes it possible to earn money faster and loose money faster.

Slippage: Some brokers trade much faster than other brokers. If you do lots of quick trades you will want low slippage. If you do more long term trades, slippage is not as important.

Commission / Fees / Spread: Depending on your trading style, different fee structures may be better for you.

Jurisdiction: Because of tax implications and asset protection issues, some jurisdictions may be more attractive to people living in some countries while other jurisdictions may be better for others.

Provide us more information about your needs if you want a specific recommendation.

Good stuff. I forgot the link on youtube, but Scott Shuburt also had an interesting overview of what was and was not needed when it comes to forex brokers. And not surprisingly, spreads was at the bottom of the list.

yeah dukascopy has a high deposit requirement, but just go with fxopen. Coz Dukas have teamed up with them, and are actually providing fxopen their feed. So you have best of both worlds, dukas' feed and MT4.

I am looking for a FX broker and I am looking for some solid advise from the veterans here.

1. What to look for a broker ?
2. How to select a broker without any IBs or commisions to third parties ?
3. I am looking for a broker for all types of trades..long term, short term and scalping trading.
4. Also any information on hedging accounts.
5. Recommendations on brokers

Appreciate any useful insight on this topic.

Sweet nice to know because I've heard a lot of good things about them. I think I might just go with them. The contests they have are pretty cool too.

I spent a lot of time going thru many messages in different threads and unable to find the right choice. Is there a comparison chart of all the main brokers somewhere here ? Or can someone advise a reliable decent broker for the below.

1. Need MT4 platform
2. Able to trade micros
3. Not having to pay anything behind the scenes. (Not worried about the spreads, but should not take pips/amount without my knowledge).

I am looking for a broker and MT4 that can show candles in 2H and/or 8H. The open hour candle is on New York time. I appreciate your input. Thank you.

mt4 does not have custom timeframes for charts. Mt5 might.
