euro seems to have some weakness off 1.4500 area , but they could be trying to dry that supply up in that area before moving higher in a few weeks... been pretty much sideways all week , I will be interested to see the weekly candles in eu and gu .

I got trigger at 1.4395 (bar no 1), did u mean trigger was tested during price pushing through this trigger line? I thought testing the trigger by price moving down to 1.4395 and complete the test by ND bar or NS bar. Could you clarify please.. thanks in advance
Yep, looks like a long from here, but not really moving up on what looks like strong volume. Hopefully we pop up soon.
es likely going to test that 1300 area today . if it breaks i am looking at 1290 as potential target for today. Still holding my sell off 1330

Oil 105 potential , if that breaks 97.5.

took a nice long off a NS on the euro right before the 830 news. Closed half at 1.4421 and let the other ride for a little but closed it once I got into work at 1.4420. Long was triggered at the break of the NS high.

Also can anyone comment on if that one I drew in a rectangle was a good entry off a squat? Looked like narrowing range and increasing volume to me.

Could anyone comment on this....When do you guys feel a NS/ND/test bar is invalidated? Would a test/NS be invalidated if its low is broken on the next bar (usually I would consider it invalidated, but...)? What happens if it is but the next bar rockets over the high of the NS/test, is it still valid? Still within the 2 bar guideline.

For ND I often see like HG a upthrust after it so these I am a little more giving, but would like a comment on the ND as well. Thanks in advance.

For a NS / test I wait two bars, if it doesn't trigger then I cancel the order. If it then triggers I just live with it

My first post in this thread. I am very glad to Malcolm and other for this excellent thread . I am in the process reading Tom williams book on VSA. Also I seen Malcolm posted on some other thread that we can sign in to Tradeguiders VSA club membership and learn from there for arround $50 I think. I am very interested in that membership. But it seams that is on off payment arround 495 for one year. Any body know of this?

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi dvarrin,

not necessarily IMHO, if you look at that entry candle it " tested " the price level of the high volume down candle - and then closed away from it, e.g. there was enough demand to signal price going higher.

But I basically take my classic 1-2-3 price patterns and candlestick patterns and see how they look through the vsa perspective.

That way I can use something I am very familiar with and I love the way vsa shows bar by bar the story behind all of it.

Maybe you could read some basic price action stuff, like trading-naked.com. Compare the patterns and setups to pres78 charts - you will see the same classic patterns and bar formations, but pres78 explains very well the vsa reasoning behind them.

Firstly, welcome to the thread!

It used to be $50 per month or $495 for the year (12 months for price of 10). Maybe they're just charging on a yearly basis now. If you're new to VSA it may be worth the investment. Having said that, reading through Master the Markets and reading this thread in depth would probably be more than enough.
Trade I took earlier on, two trigger numbers on the close and high of the ultra high volume bar.

Entered on a test of the trigger on the high. Set my order on the high of the test bar. Unfortunately I moved my stop to BE a bit too soon and it got hit. It has just hit my initial target of 1.4445. Oh well.

What does IMO and IMHO mean in fact?
An other question about drawing the trigger lines. If we have a bar with ultra high volume, and then there is another bar with an higher volume, but it is not ultra high. On which one do we draw the trigger line?

If the first bar has ultra high volume and the bar after it has higher volume then that must be ultra high too.

Use the bar with the highest/most volume.

Well, my question about the volume of the bars might be a bit stupid, but the thinking behind that is the following.

If the volume is low for sometime and then there is a bar with a much higher volume, then compared to the volume of the previous bars it would be considered as ultra high volume. If the volume remains quite high in the following 3 bars and the 4th bar has an higher volume of the bar with the ultra high volume, that volume might not be as significative, because it is not a lot higher than the volume of the 3 previous bars.

I understand what you're saying and we actually had the same thing on EU today. Here's the chart;

The arrow is just to draw your attention to the numbers.

1 - big increase in volume, i put my trigger on the close of this bar to start with

2 - slight increase, moved my trigger to here

3 - increase again, moved my trigger here

4 - another increase and this served as my trigger for most of the day.

This also makes me think of an other question. If I had already a trigger line in the area of the new bar with high volume, does it immediately replace the old trigger line?
