This indicator is the same as most others in MT4. There is nothing special that you have to do to get it to work. This is the first time anybody has mentioned a problem, so I am at a loss to know what is wrong. As a first try, I think you should shut down MT4 and restart it.

Thanks for the reply. I've done that already. I've done this a lot so I'm surprised, too, especially after reading how others have it working fine. I'm just stumped. I'm sure I'm missing some setting to make it show up or something. Could you post a screenshot so I at least know what I'm looking for? Thanks again!

There is nothing to show - the indicator doesn't make any changes to the chart. It will alert once the conditions are met, but again it doesn't change the chart appearance. I think you are expecting something that isn't there.

OK! I think you are right I expected something different. I was thinking it would give some type of display that tells me delta between price and current MA value. Sorry for the problem! Do you happen to know of such an indicator? I would like to watch it change as price moves, visually monitor and manually enter trades. Thanks!

hi...i just need help with indicator...try to find it everywhere but could't find it...
first the indicator type is the moving average....what i need is the MA indicator give an alert not on the price....but on a specific level of price. i don't care of where the price goes (either up or down). for example the MA50 have reached to a specific level for instance 1.3000. the MA value previously is 1.2950...as it reach 1.3000 it will give alert such as (MA value breech 1.3000) for example. another thing is if the person coding this could also put a "magnified value" of the MA slightly bigger than the actual one (ctrl +D) where you could seen the actual value.thanks in advance for the person take into consideration of making this special indicator and thanks for sharing it.good day!

Hello All,
I'm simply trying to get an email notification when the price crosses AND CLOSES after passing the SMA of 20.

That's it.

My email setup is fine. I get "test" alerts.
Any help would be SUPERBLY AND UNFORGETABLY great!!!

I am testing an indicator alert that will do this. Should be finished late next week.

It will be similar to the one in post #12 of this thread with the addition of email and multiple currencies.

Sounds awesome. I Cant wait. I've been searching for weeks now, but haven't been able to come up with anything that sticks and works well with email alerts.
Should I check back with you, or will the alert be posted on this page?

You can't email, but the alert level is adjustable. The current version will alert when the price approaches the MA, the new version will also allow for an alert after crossing.

Unfortunately there is a bug in the program when setting AlertPips = 0 and this won't work. The next version has a fix for this. AlertPips has to be 1 or greater.

I found a problem which meant starting my testing over. Plus I got inspired to create a dashboard which will knock your socks off. Take a look at this one it will be similar to it.

This indicator will alert when the price has moved a specified number of pips from the MA. Every kind of MA can be specified. There is also an email alert. This new indicator replaces PipMArk.ex4. It will not be supported in the future.

These are the inputs and their meaning.


AlertPips=10 - distance from MA to close in pips.
AlertBarsSkip=3 - number of bars to skip before next alert.
MATimeFrame=0 - this is the TF for the calculation of the MA. Zero means to use the chart's TF.
MAperiods=10 - MAperiods - the number of periods to be used by the MA calculation.
MAmethod="E" - MAmethod - the method to be used by the MA calculation ('S', 'W', 'E', 'M').
MAapply="C" - MAapply - the price type to be used by the MA calculation ('M', 'T', 'O', 'C', 'H', 'L').
MAshift=0 - MAshift - the number of periods for the MA shift calculation.
MailAlert=false - set to true to receive emails. This option only works if the platform is properly configured for email.

I have completed the indicator and you will find it in the previous post. It is called PipsFromMA. This one will work on a single currency chart. I am still working on the multi currency dashboard version and should have it done the end of the week.

It would be great if the indicator could display on the screen in real time the distance of pips by witch it is away from a certain Moving Average and changes colors as the following example:


M1: XX pips away “ color Green if price is above the moving average and reached the Alertpips we ve entered in the properties”
M5: XX pips away “ Normal color black or white if it doesn’t reach the Alertpips”
M15: XX pips away “
M30: XX pips away “ color Red if the price is below the moving average and reached the Alertpips we ve entered in the properties “
H1: XX pips away
H4: XX pips away


in the properties of the indicator we should be able to give each time frame a number of pips that will trigger a change of color.


Alertpips:

M1: 60pips
M5: 90 pips
M15: 120 pips
M30: 170pips
H1: 250 pips

if the color option is going to give you a hard time I will be happy just with the display. Thanks
