Steve - hopefully you'll find this post here, as I can't post to the TOB thread.

In CalculateTrades(), I was under the impression that the line:

if ((Bid >= target || Bid > HalfTopLine && High[1] >= TopLine) && TradeShort)

... should fire a trade when price is within PipsBufferFromTradeLine. Only it doesn't. To do this the line should be:

if (Bid >= target || (Bid > HalfTopLine && High[1] >= TopLine) && TradeShort)

unless I'm wrong about the functionality. Likewise for the "buy" code.

This of course will change the performance of the bot to some degree, maybe a great degree, so it's questionable whether it is a good idea to fix the bug or not. For my part, I think I'll leave it the way it is.

TOB hedging kicked in yesterday or so and now the Yens are easing off. Unfortunately, some of my hedge trades are now in DD and the sells/buys are even. I seem to remember something in place to keep this from happening, but I didn't see a setting that jumped off the page.

From the TOB user manual "...TOB will hedge trades at HedgeAtLossPips if the market is in favor of the hedge trade and against your origional trade. TOB will then monitor the entire position and close it at breakeven."

But, what does TOB do with the hedges if the price retraces?

BTW, I have a USA criminal, and they are obviously allowing me to take the hedge trades.

Steve, can you code an option that sends an alert when a trade wasn't taken due to the max spread filter?

Also, I have an idea for a more automated Beast. You've said a lot of times that you prefer to close a winning trade when it's close to its take profit line, but these things can happen when you are sleeping or not watching. So, let's say you have a sell in profit that was open at 1.0100 and has to close at 1.000, but price action reaches to 1.0005 and then bounces up again and you only get to win 30 pips (if you were lucky), leaving a long down wick and a small body on the freaking candle. To avoid this, you can have an area of, for example, 10 pips (from 1.0010 to 1.0000) and if price action enters this zone, but the candle closes above it, close the trade for the remaining profit. Get the idea?

Ok, drawdown was becoming to high and negative swap is eating the account so I stopped testing it.
Maybe with a swap-filter FTLR can be improved, but Steve stopped working on FTLR, so time for me to move on also.
I also stopped trading FTLR on my live account. I'm hedging manually at two pairs who had L4 trades open to get rid of the loss

Still testing TOB and playing around with R&R (Rinse and Repeat) so still enoying Steve's EA's.

Dear Coders,

I have a request to you.

I found the abovementioned auto trading system created by Steve as a great system working very well - no losing trades over last three weeks - 10 on 10 winning trades - its not opening positions very often (few times a week) but they are always winning, so far.

The only problem is that EA is not opening short trades at all, when there exist an opportunity to open short position system is taking long which is I think some mistake at the code.

Could you please advise where the problem might be?

hello there, look at my picture, there is a BUY open and the reentry line is above the BUY, but it should be under. Am I right?

hello, i have these problems with EOB. i am testing in awhile, have the newest version and now i have opened two BUYS on USDJPY, using 1.2.6 recovery. What is the problem is that the second buy is was opened only 13 pips from the first (reentry line is 50) and the other problem is, what you see in the graph, that the two buys have reached the BE LINE (blue) but not close each other.

Regarding EOB and the box size, I think that is a better idea to use ATR for the size and the sell/buy stops, instead of a fixed amount of pips. Volatility should be very important at the middle of the sixths.

First I'm not a coding guru, but I've been looking through 'Brijon Concept of Threes auto trading robot by Steve Hopwood' trying to work out how it works and in CheckForHiddenStopLossHit there seems to be a problem with me or the code.

In the following code segment, sl = current SL + pips, but if current SL = 0 (which it should be if we are hiding the stops?) then the if statement will never be true and the position will never hit the SL, because if pips = 10 then sl =10.

I think something like this will work: -

Hidden stop loss is not intended to be used with a zero hard sl. Details in mptm user guide.

I am following your methods now for about more than a year, and I have finally taken all my courage together for posting.

It is all about trend definition. You like the D1 RSI(20) with 45/55, some like stochs 20/80, whatever.

But as you posted your thoughts about Marc Fishers ACD method, I combined a few indicators as follows :

Timeframe : M15 / H1 / H4, does not really matter

Indicators :

3_Level_ZZ_Offset_Semafor, all default but Period 1 = 23 Period2=38 Period3=68

NonLagMA_v7.1, all default but colour=1

Trend start :

1. Wait for a level 3 semafor to pop up (but it badly repaints as we all know), thus we

2. Wait for NonLagMA to change colour and then maybe one(+) more bar to confirm the change

Trend stop :

1. Level3 semafor shows up again in opposite direction of the trend

2. Might badly repaint, BUT TREND IS ONLY OVER when NonLagMA changes colour again

PRO’s :

totally simple and idiot proof, a dream if there were no…

CON’s:

There might be no level 3 semafor showing up at the end of a trend. This would lead to a exit rule not being existent because without a level3 semafor we’d only have the choppy NonLagMA and that alone does not the trick.

MY SOLUTION :

Use ACD. The SL value (B-Point I think) in a worst case scenario would be the distance between the NonLagMA colour change and the level 3 semafor value. To take positive pips from the table even in this case then, trail it or break it even on short notice (10/20 pips etc), MPTM gives all the weapons for it.

THE MAGIC (in my very personal eyes):

The semafor indicator alone is BS. The NonLagMA alone also. The combination of it together with the little ACD implementation is my perfect definition of a trend.

WHAT NOW:

Well … what would you do after having a glimpse of a trend ? Go for it, start any other EA on exactly that point or do whatever you like.
I personally have four methods how I trade manually after I see this confirmation.

First is to use the SL on a failed trade as described and continue on next entry with SAME lots.

Second is to use the SL on a failed trade as described and continue on next entry with x2 lots.

Third is to reenter (leave all trades open) on every new condition after it goes against us with SAME lots.

Fourth would be very daring, use 3rd method with 1.x lots / martingale.

CONCLUSION / EXPERIENCE :

On the M15 I have not yet had more than 5-6 reentries. I used 3rd trade method with leaving all open and reenter with same lotsize. Martingale would have done the trick better, but you never know.

Wouldn’t it be nice to try this out in an EA ? It could be an “always on” one trading both sides because the conditions meet for every timeframe and situation. “just” some values to play with … and hey, you are doing Martingale anyway these days, why not give this baby a shot.

Maybe you want to do a quick “Bouncing Balls EA by Steve Hopwood” ? ;-)

But if you and all the others have thoughts against it, please tell me … I want to learn.

And even if it is why the heck I haven’t found such an EA until now.
