No, it doesn't make sense.
At the close of that candle you don't know if it will be green at the close of the next candle or not. You can't know that until the next candle closes.

I think you're trying too hard to make a winner out of a set up that would be a no trade under your original rules.

That trade would have been entered a few minutes before a major news announcement. There is no way to "be careful". You either trade into news or you don't. That move could have just as easily gone the other way and gaped below your stop, particularly if you had tightened it up.

Now with new indicator, thank you Gleneagles,we can see that on the close of that rejection candle all nonlagMAs where green.

P.S. Gleneagles, do you have the version of the indicator where yellow dots available? Thank you.

It comes from a different trading system so the settings may not be optimal.
I have not tested it on a 5M system, I just converted the settings to apply to a 5M chart.
Best is to stick with julie`s settings until it can be established that other settings work better. This can only be done through proper back/forward testing.

ok lord ! I try ! today I 3X 12 ! :-) but I wont improve the stop!
for now I use 20 pp fixed !

Candle entry proven to be valid many times over.

Not trying too hard, just noticed entry and asked question, only discussed it cos someone asked if yellow was valid.

News is news, stay out or stay in, I don't advocate either - I have no opinion on news trading and have taken out the offending "BE CAREFUL" note from the rules post.

I don't do fundamentals.

Nice thread Julie. I cannot see the HMA in your zipped file on the 1st page, can you or anyone please provide a link or post this indi, also what settings do you use on the HMA. A quick point that was raised a few posts ago about tight stops I would agree that's the way to go with this method ( I trade a fairly similar method) as I use to have larger stops but as a fulltime trader I've realised that when an entry is not good better to exit the trade or use a tight stop as this method lends it self to that. If entry is timed well you should see price move in your direction fairy quickly, in fact if price does not move so fast in my direction than I prefer to exist the trade early.

Thank you its it great, just attaching to chart now, its actually exactly what I wanted when i was setting up my template. I looked for a bit and made do with the one I had.

This is gonna make trades so much easier to identify.

Hi kdx,

It is in there its called NonLag MA_Separate but you dont need it now use the new one Gleneagles provided its great.

Put 3 on the chart set to 15, 30, 50 and on common tab put fixed min 1 and fixed max 2. its soo cool.

My thoughts exactly. And when I follow the rules it works well.

Except it is troublesome in Asian market but as I am awake and its my daytime I am itching to trade - tried today and won a few. Need to be quick with exits at pivots as it retraces fast at times and doesn't always touch.

Thanks for pointing that out, no I didn't know, they look so a like on the chart and seem to change colour at the same time so I presumed it was just someone renaming the indicator. gee will have to change all my posts to take out HMA and put in Non Lag lol.

I just Googled to try to find formulae, or even plain-text description, of NLMA, but couldn't.

Lots of MT4 code, which can be reverse-translated, but do you know of a source for description?

Attached chart shows Hull MA and NLMA both settings 50 on 5M chart.

You can see from the histogram that they are quite different.

Julie,

on most of the trades you entered right after the 3 MAs have the same color...why did you not wait for the pullback? Have you changed the rules?

ENTRY
2. Wait for price to return to EMA and close in direction of trade below EMA for Short and above EMA for Long
