Thought provoking video Gro. Once in the trade, become the market (my take). I think FTI has been using this concept throughout...dance with the market. The video just puts it in a more visual way.

So many thanks to FTI for opening his trading treasure chest...maybe not the golden goose, but some good golden eggs . Post 1 will explain.

Hello FTI & Fellow Threaders,

I am now at Page 412 (Post#6180 - Mar 17, 2009 12:09pm).
I have read about the different sad situations that FTI had to endure.
The more I read, the more I value this Thread.
Today I feel that I may make a Planktonic contribution to the Thread
and to FTI's Goals.

I have been an university teaching, researcher, admin, for 30+ years.
It troubles me that the concepts introduced by FTI via Chapter 1 of AOW (something like 'In The Beginning') seems to have faded away.

The postings I have read so far show the many Monkey Wrenches
trown at FTI's Smooth Work and his superb approach to trading.

From my experience, I would think that the best approach to those
Monkey Wrenches is to ignore them.
Instead, it would be good to show the Profits (no ID, just show $$$).
I say this because a couple of decades ago I had a similar situation
in Science. A famous friend of mine (he has been on Discovery Channel a few times) told me:

"Ignore them. The best way to defeat them is with Publications."

For those who are not familiar I explain the following.
In Science, Publications constitute one of the strongest
Currencies & Capitals that a scientist can have.
It is through publications (quality & quantity) that a scientist is evaluated.
I followed my friend's advice and it has done much good to me.

I am no trader (yet) but I think I can say that FTI is a Pioneer
in that he is a rare jewel trying to help those who want to get into the
Highly Risky Business of FX Trading.
I believe that this is why FTI introduced AOW.
This is why I think that Chapt 1 of AOW is so important to set The Climate.
I recently posted the YouTube video for this Chapter.
I again recommend that members see this wonderful work by History Channel.

So, my friend's advice here would be:

"Ignore them. The best way to defeat them is with Results (i.e. $$$)."

From my past experiences in teaching, I realized many years ago
(thanks to comments from my students)
that clarity (through their language) is of upmost importance.

This is why I recently tried to bring to your attention to Focus via the
YouTube video of Chapt 1 of AOW.

That this seems important is illustrated by the current postings and the current Market situation.
Namely, I have not seen in the latest postings much talk about this.

Perhaps the answer to my concern lies somewhere in the postings
I still must read.
However, I would have expected that FTI's students would have taken advantage of the great opportunities in the market.
Sadly, since I am a newbie, I stayed aside and made no trade.

I genuinely wish the very best for everyone in this thread with special attention to FTI (and excluding the detractors who have posted and send unsavoury communications).

I respectfully think we need a Bootcamp Sargent (AOW Commander?)
to get people in shape and bring clarity to a Thread that reminded me of the TV show Hoarders (I used to send to an old friend of mine who is an avid hoarder).

I offer my thanks for your attention to my comments and I tender my apologies to those who feel uncomfortable by them.

just enjoyed a little pips from aussie rally during lunch time (here downunder) after having a (not so) possitive fig releases... had scaled down exposures and watching a possible retest at 1.0344(new high) area...

looks strong... if it holds... looking at shorting it again, be nimble...

Thanks Guerrillawar, will have to have learn a bit more about all this. I think the more you know the better, so any extra knowledge such as this just makes things easier.

Sorry Gro, didn't quite understand what you were alluding to if you were alluding to something as I'm not that good at reading between the lines sometimes.

EDIT: Another question has popped up... what is clustering and what is tearing? I'm guessing tearing means the market goes one way without looking back and clustering means there's low volatility?

Below is a clarification attempt about what some thought was my asking for Blotters, P&Ls, etc.

As you know, in addition to being a newbie,
I am trying to learn FTI's Approach.

While reading the first 400+ pages of postings I have come across some nasty and unconstructive postings.
The solution I suggested (in my previous posting)
for this situation was posting earnings ($$$).
I believe that this is the most effective way to show that
FTI's Approach does work.
I do not agree that one demonstrates that FTI's Approach does work by showing: 1-Humility, 2-Perseverance, etc

I already described my professional background.
In my line of work it is numbers that count (in the end).
Speeches or cozy feelings are of little use in Science.
I believe that the same goes with Forex (maybe even more so).
Therefore, whether you select to use $$$ or Pips, the only way to demonstrate that FTI's Approach does work is with numbers
(i.e. not with cozy feelings and speeches).

NOTE RELATED TO NUMBERS:
How many times have you seen the statement:
High-Probability Trading ?
Have you seen any Probability Number going along with this statement?
I have yet to see one.
Therefore, I discard any claim of high-probability trading unless a calculation of probability is shown.

I am not suggesting for everyone to post their P&L
(although I think it would be a good idea to track individual progress).
Whether this type of posting is Daily, Weekly or Monthly (or all those) should be decided by the Threaders.
With this information, those Technical Analysts who have criticized
TFI's Approach would be put to practice Silence.
Perhaps the Senior Students should lead in this idea.

Again, I tender my apologies to those that feel uncomfortable with my comments.
I also tender my thanks to all those who are patient enough to try to understand my constructive-intended comments.
Of course, underpinning my comments is my strong believe that my comments have some value to the Thread.
My comments would be a reflection of my Ego if they would not be constructive.
So only the Future will tell.
