I don't watch TV news either, but you could tune in on the bloomberg website and check them out... or you could just go for the good stuff and forget the financial chicks... lol

... after trading is done for the day of course...

Looking deeper into the subject, it is controversial... Graham Bell, Elisha Grey and Meucci... Meucci being credited with the original idea of a talking telegraph...

Yup, you never absolutely know what really happened, but this is what is stated:
The United States House of Representatives in its resolutions HRES 269 IH dated October 17th 2001 and HRES 269 EH dated June 11th 2002 resolved that the life and achievements of Antonio Meucci should be recognized, and his work in the invention of the telephone should be acknowledged . This resolution noted that "if Meucci had been able to pay the $10 fee to maintain the caveat after 1874, no patent could have been issued to Bell".

What i know is that Meucci was too poor to patent the idea and to test it more furtherly. Later Bell took his writtens and proceeded to develope it and then he patented it.
I actually didn't know the real story untill 5 minutes ago.

Back on topic... massive stop loss selling on the yen, and if anyone has access to a DOM of sorts you could see how illiquid it was, and lots of gaps in between sparse liquidity causing it to jump around crazily even after the fall.

yup, but considering the time of day, it's obvious it was illiquid, massive stop loss selling and algo's...

Yeah when it was happening I was thinking about how it was just like the flash crash... grabbed a few hundred pips this evening.

I suspect you'll need deep pockets. This aint gonna be $9.99 bargain from Borders. Hopefully worth it though

I think what happened to yen is similar to what I posted a while ago where the further out from the Bid Offer the more denser the liquidity.

Maybe there was a short term lack of immediacy in the book but the further away from its average price the more stronger the density of limit orders causing it to snap back. Its so tempted to straddle a pair with an off market limit order for events like this.

In the shorter term Japan is looming on an intervention the question is which way will it go? Strong yen good for imports weak yen good for exports. I'm thinking a weaker yen would help maintain exports and help the economy but the question is how much is going to have to be imported to rebuild Japan? I'm very tempted to fade it at the moment. If BoJ does intervene and start eradicating stops in the other direction we could make a lot of pips.

As regards do Darkstars book price I'm looking at how much I've blown on trading so far on Fundis and TA. If only DS's book was out when I started. I'll pay what ever the price is for it as I think this may be just what I need to get me going. Since this thread has started I've learned so much and now I feel that me and a few others on here are very very close.

I hope Grkfx posts soon it would be nice to hear his thoughts on the Yen.

Osler has some cool research papers about S/R and stop placement that pertain to us. I just started on "Trading Your Way to Financial Freedom".
