It depends really what time frame you are trading - if you are more of an intraday trader then initial balances i feel are really handy because you can make an assumption from the size of the initial balance whether the market is going to stay within a certain range thus great for intraday trading, or whether the market is going to be marked up or down beyond this range (market imbalance) and trade accordingly.

When the market is moving beyond the extensions of the initial balances i tend to look for the reaction when price meets previous day pocs and vpocs, and look for bigger moves.

I dont have any examples to hand but i think the auction market theory thread will do much more justice on this topic than my explanation.

HG do you have any specific post references that really outline your trigger ideas? I've been searching through all of your postings here and just picking up small bits here and there. Don't know if you have one post where you outlined it all in one, if not no worries i can continue browsing.

remember what i emailed you about the poc yesterday on GU ? right at top of day ... had to be selling.

also remeber i said once I was on vacation trading would be simple.

Make the most of it as i am back april 5th , then it will be back to 50 pip range days

So what about today Malc since it is right at the bottom... also what do you have for yesterday's POC? I show 6200 which is 39 pips lower than the daily high...

I show 6202 for my POC (volume based), but thats for Pound futures.

One question for profiles do you guys use 6pm as start of your profiles? I do but just seeing if anyone else does it different, sure others do.

Ok cool, thanks for the heads up. I'm not familiar with this but I'll try and get over to the AMT thread for a look.

Then you have the advantage...my m3 is buried in snow at the moment lol

I'm tired so very quick comments from me - GU, although the spread in the US session was narrower the volume was lower than earlier. I'm not seeing anything yet that would conclusively stop the down move. Again more likely looking for shorts again tomorrow - this supply isn't shaken out yet.

On EU it looks similar but what intrigues me is that I know the down bar was already formed in the first hour or so, and the rest of the price action took place at the bottom. Potential accumulation? However I am still thinking based on these charts no clear sign of reversal so shorts in play.

Thats how we vsa folks role, call it how we see it even if its against the herd.

I am in agreement but only if we break 3840 and retest.

Oh and I also just noticed that on my 4hr chart, the second highest 4hr bar for both volume and spread (Feb 3rd) this year has it's high at... 3785. Lot's of volume at this level many times this year alone so a low volume test type bar into it seems like a possible SOS...

sorry, i should've been clear. on my 4h and weekly, i thought my latest 4 hr bar closed below my sept 23 weekly closed bar. I then looked at it again, and realized what i said in the beginning was a rushed statement. What I meant was that I have the same notion as you, and I am glad that I am not alone in the opposing positions. Though I would rather see another test at 3780 after a break a little higher, around 3850 area.
