i like to use range bars or renko bars to trade.....this way price is truly everything there is no time....only price levels.

Trading is 2 dimensional. Price and time.

P(t) = x where x is the Price at time t.

Without time attached to price, you have no reference of up or down.

You have to order price by time. After you order price, then you can compare if price is up or down.

i do have time markers in my charts daily open weekly open but the price levels and where they turn is where the players are moving the market.........you watching multiple timeframes i guess thats ok......its a relative perspective i guess....e=mc2 it depends on your point of view.......i dont get whipsawed range charts when i use price generated charts.....i see the true levels where price has been stopped overe and over.....no dojis no sideways runs......just pure moves consolidation then moves.....3o pip renko on the left 10 pip on the right

Why are you guys even having this discussion? bars and candles are literally the same thing.. open high low close, with the exception of heiken ashi and other stuff you really are getting the same information displayed. And its all you really need.

He is talking about 'constant range bars' Orbital. (and Renkos)
Anew bar is formed when previous bar moves a certain amount of pips.

p.s. search trader 'Musashi'. He trades Range Bars. Afterall, both the styles consider demand and supply, So chose whichever fits your type.

yes bars and candles the same but range driven bars such as 10 pip is much different than time based bars such as 5min or 1hour.........range driven bars are driven by price and price alone time based bars must close at the specified time interval......its all good....i like to check a 4hr chart daily and weekly here and there but "if price is truly everything" then range based charts are pure price

for instance summer of 2007 the eu moved about 50 pips a day.........up and down it was horrid.....i was not using rangebars back then......but.....had i been and used a 100 pip range setting i may have had 3 candles draw in those 4 horrible months leading up to the big crash..... as i said i didn't use them back then......what i got was this horrible whipsaw action 10 pips here 20 pips there 50 pip range it sucked.....even the gj went from 300+pips a day to 100-120pips a day moves.

i dunno i guess my point is price is everything to me i am not in a hurry to trade.... when a price level that once was a turn is near or hit ill take the gamble it will hold again.......i never trade breakouts volume is useless in forex etc etc......its not rocket science trade where price failed to go lower or higher in the past.....

range bars or renko just cut out the sideways....... sorry for chiming in ill shut up now
