If we are talking about the e/u, long as of late. It depends on what the market is doing don't you think?

Yeah, you are right, but really i am talking about a more longer term average of shorter term trading, like day trading over the past year or so

You should trade with the trend. So everything depends on it.

I try to trade with the trend, but I'm more apt to trade long most of the time. When I short a trade (even with stops and limits) I naturally put a larger stop, thinking I should give it room to go back down and then end up taking a larger loss or a smaller profit. Since I have not conquered that habit yet, I try and stick with long positions.

It may go back to an old Nasdaq market-maker telling me once,
"Thing go down faster than they go up."

Perhaps I have an 'edge' in finding short set-ups...
Though market 'gurus' say you have to be comfortable going long as well as short,
I might reply "I try...I just don't get my price when I try to Buy".

Rooicol, if you're asking if others have a bias for short or long, then I'm definitely a semi-permabear. This has nothing to do with trading with the trend or good trading approach, and everything to do with psychology.

Of course Trading 101 says to "trade with the trend", that's what every beginner and rank-amateur knows to do, but most people have a personality bias to one side, so the bulls will look for buying opportunities in a down trend and the bears will look for selling opportunities in an uptrend.

Most shorts really have a negative interest rates especially against USD and JPY, so for me I tend to get rid of shorts rather quickly. If they do happen, better buckle up. As for the last year, its been pretty bullish for carry trade so I was more long than short.

Nasdaq that is the truth, it did many years back used to go down faster than up, thats fear for you, forex is a different kettle of fish though and doesn't really conform to this.

Your brain is just pattern recognitioning the down moves clearer than the up moves so thats why your taking more short.

Yeah this is what i was thinking, regardless of whether you trade with or against the trend as over a long enough period of time there should be equal number of up trends as down trends, it comes down to how often you short a down trend or how often you long an up trend.

I'm not as extreme as Intu, but still seem to identify short setups more often than long setups (trading eurusd m1 - m15), over the past 450 trades just over 60% have been shorts.

I prefer trading 1 direction, I just see the chart better, being longs as price finds support, wish you could flip the chart upside down easily, but then I'd likely go the wrong way anyway.

Why is it, when you go the wrong way by accident it always hits the SL pretty quickly, but when you enter the right way it still hits the SL pretty quickly.

I prefer to take short trades. When the price goes down faster than it goes up. And on my opinion support levels more reliable or more often to confirm than resistance.

Well your trading a pair in forex. So really no matter what your always shorting and going long at the same time. Countries/banks don't care about what way your chart is positioned.
