I think I have found the problem. Fix in post 1.

Coders go to void StartCT().
Underneath //This function acts as start() for counter-trend trading

add this:
Inserted Code
   //ReadTradesIntoMemory does not set RecoveryInProgress, so do this now instead
   if (OpenTrades >= Start_Recovery_at_trades) RecoveryInProgress = true;
   else RecoveryInProgress = false;

and recompile.

It looks as though TOB's code is incorrect unless Start_Recovery_at_trades = 2. Really useful post again Ras; cheers.

Sorry guys. The fix I posted will make no difference. Established code further down already does this job.

Worse, the 'fix' will enforce Recovery on those who do not want it. If you downloaded the fix, then you need to re-download if you do not use Recovery.

Having said that, only someone with a shattering lack of understanding of Beastie/TOB would not use Recovery.

So, still bug-hunting.

MT4i shows better stats in my opinion - I took my last week top profit factor pairs(7 out of 22) and run it this week; so far so good, almost no dd

I clicked on your link and then on Beastie stats. Most of those pairs are very volatile. Aren't you afraid of large dd with those?

nice results. what settings are these? i take it you are manually closing trades? i cannot see this EA being the set n forget type.

we'll see if luck still on our side after more weeks of forwarding , out of box setting, except lot size of 1.0 and maxspread of 50, and TrendTrade disable
with volatile pairs brings shorter trade length - whether it's a winning or losing trade that's a different story
I noticed trade length is about 24hrs http://www.myfxbook.com/search/beastie Currently mine is about 6hrs

So far so good. Those stats are amazing!!!

It's amazing to me to see so many complain about DD. So what if you have 20% DD if the balance is going up at the same time. For example, my demo account with 21 pairs starting at 10K and lots at .3 ($3), now sits at 17K after 3 weeks with DD about the same through out ...right now, DD at $2100, so that is $5000 in clear profit even counting DD.. 50% gain in 3 weeks is pretty awesome

I'm afraid if you don't see what's the big deal about drawdown now, you will eventually.

Trading like you guys are trading will get you hit big time -- it's just a matter of time.

Any setting that will earn you $7000 in 3 weeks will also lose you that much, and more.

For that reason, I have decided to only trade with the low or medium volatility pairs, and no pairs containing the eur, usd, or gbp. I'm only using CT and not trend trading with Beastie, and of course TOB only has CT trading.

I'd like to be able to make a living at some point with this EA, and you can't do that with such high risk trading.

I guess that's the point of Demo isn't it, to find out what are the best settings. Rest assured, my live account is not so aggressive, but aren't we talking about Demo?

True.

And yes, I'm talking about demo, but with the purpose of applying it to live at some point. I want to be able to keep the dd low enough to prevent heart palpitations and elevated blood pressure.

Not having much success with the beastie since I can't seem to find an optimal trend trade settings. Still playing but will keep you guys updated.

Hi Steve,
Enclosed is a section of my experts log file from Old Beastie (#1)....Hitting this cross is 60 to 70 percent (money-wise) of my Trend side losses at the moment...I am running a hard SL but hitting this cross makes it very short and non-adjustable.......Is there anything that can be done to make this cross adjustable, user input to turn it off when you see a trade going south etc....
If this could be possible you would be well on your way to taming the Trend side of this monster....

EDIT==== P.S. Hanging an alert on this would also be good so you could react to it before it happened.....Also Steve....Of course New Beastie (#2)(the bot in post 1) has the same problem on the same trades.
