Can Oanda see the lines I draw on the charts?

How to find out if Oanda is looking over my shoulder to see what lines I draw ?

They don't need to see the lines on your chart when they can already read your mind.

They can't see them, why would they even want to, they know your entries, SL's and TP's that's enough to play around with you

Traders trading patterns, latency exploiters, news scalpers.....you can bet Oanda has it covered. Computers are pretty sophisticated nowadays!

But to answer your question, I doubt they care where you draw lines, just as long as you're losing money that's all they need to know!

Not sure...but maybe an app like Wireshark can help you to find what informations leave your computer.

They will care about your lines if you are a big fish.
But Mr. big fish will never trade with Oanda

I believe data sent between your MT4 terminal and the broker is encrypted. so a sniffer like wireshark will not help.

that being said, I don't think the software supports them seeing your lines. It would not be of any benefit anyway.

data is encypted but you don't need to crack it... you know the passw so you can see in clear all the bits leaving your computer

Don't this so. But if you are paranoid just add fake lines. Or draw line on your screen with a pen over a transparent film .

Maybe you missed that but they have MT4 now (ok only demo at the moment).

It is a software to monitor your network card.
If you install it, you will able to do filter betwenn sent and receiwed packet, and sending to host, like Oanda. After a few hours of searching on that protocol, learning the software usage, you would be able to see exactly if is sending or not. That is one of the way how can be "decripted" the Oanda's protocol. I would be to lazy to write a new client from 0, even if I know his protocol, and no reason until they provide a free software. Another way is to take from cache and decompile the software, and look directly inside. Usually that code is obfuscated, so it will take a few hours / days to heck it.

As software development, architecture design it is a 2 way approach:
The user preferences are stored on the client side ( your PC ) and on server side your lines.
To check it:
Go add a few lines on your graph, and save it to user prefferences.
I think when you save, than will be sent to server ( Oanda) Anyhow: if you log in another pc -where wasn't Oanda's software- there will be the lines it means your lines are at Oanda.

When you make a trade, there is a stop lose AND a margin call. If Oanda would like to take your money, than it would move on stop lose or margin call direction the prices, spread, and not your lines matter.

Oanda at any time of their choosing, can look at anything you plot on your Oanda charts. To think they can't is naive.
Whether they ever choose to is a different question.

Theoretically - yes. In real life - well, they just don't care what you draw. So many traders, have billions of theories of market directions etc. drawing crazy stuff on the charts. Why would anyone be interested? Get some sleep man. Guess you are trading non-stop for too long. No-one except you cares about the stuff you do on your charts.

P.S. If you wanna feel safe about drawing stuff on your charts, just take a marker or a pen and draw it on the screen directly. Than definitely they wont see it. wink wink

It depends.....

If you are a loser they really dont care. Now if you start to make money consistently, they will surely take a close look on what you are doing. And their search will not be restricted only by what you have on their platform......!!

If you think you discovered the holy grail and don't feel like giving it for free to Oanda you better keep your analysis on another platform, computer and even internet connection
