I am busy tomorrow and will not have any time to spend here, so I have updated post 1 in the hope that not too many bloops will emerge as the backtesters get to work.

TOB in post 1 is the same as the one in my previous post, so those of you who have already downloaded do not need to re-download.

I have also updated the user guide; Beastie testers do not need it.

Heads up guys. I am not sure how I managed it, but neither the version I posted a few posts ago nor the one I added to post 1 a couple of days ago are the correct version. Cheers to Ray for pointing this out.

Everyone needs to go to post 1 to download the correct version with auto-closure and volatility stuff.

I am trading the NB5.2 for a while with great results on 24 pairs.

Early this year I started with the "old" Beast on the following pairs (live):

EU, GU, AU, GJ, EJ

Also with very good results so far, so I would like to add some new pairs.
My question what pairs are you trading sucessfully with the Beast and how do you choose you pairs?
What´s your strategy in choosing the right pairs for the Beast or the Old Beast???

Thanks for posting your results.

I think I'm going to use only crosses that are low or medium volatility. These are the ones that have done the best on my backtests, with aud/cad leading the way.

I'm very hesitant to use the eur, usd, or gbp in my trading.

This is an Old Beast query.

I've got a question with the recovery strategy on the attached EURCAD chart. If you look at the top left you can see an open BUY 0.04 at 1.37759

And at the bottom right an open SELL 0.08 at 1.32738. This was placed after several BUY-Stops were not triggered.

I would have thought that this order should have been a BUY. The BE line showing is obviously not BE and as you can see price has passed it a couple of times without closing. (Obviously it shouldn't close there anyway)

This is the first time I've had an open order as big as 0.08 and just wonder if anyone has any ideas as to why the Old Beast has bucked !!

Thanks for that. hedging is true and at 500 pips !!! This is obviously my first hedge trade using TOB !!

I reckon a BUY would have been better at the Magenta line but I suppose the Hedge has superceded the chance of that trade.

Any ideas how I get rid of the BE line and add a long trade manually so that TOB will reset a BE and manage it ? I've no idea how to manipulate this sort of thing but it would be useful to know especially if this was live !!

I noticed a strange behavior in the latest version of "The Old Beast". It seems to open multiple trades at around the same level. Please see attached.

I wonder if this is normal and intended, or if it's a possible bug?

P.S. As I'm writing this post, the CHFJPY pending trade (.20 lots) as well as another CHFJPY (.40 lots) have just executed.

  2. Leverage: 1:100
  3. Lot size: 0.01 lots per $100 balance. Therefore my current lot size is 0.02. Can't wait until the balance hits $600, then I can go to the dizzy height of 0.03. This time next year...........


Hi Steve, any particular reason for IBFX Australia ?

And also with your $200 balance and 0.01 lots how many pairs are you actually running to avoid too much DD.

I'm thinking of opening a live account for either/both TOB and Beastie and am just trying to figure in some safety factors so any pointers would help.

Cheers. That's a bug. I hadn't noticed, because I have spent the day coding an ea for Brijon's Threes system (coming to a thread near you soon; Whip, you are going to love it).

Fix in post 1, or coders, go to void CalculateTrades()

Replace

with
if (TopLine < ReEntryLineVal) return;

and
if (RecoveryInProgress && BottomLine > ReEntryLineVal) return;
with
if (BottomLine > ReEntryLineVal) return;

'Cos I already had an IBFX account and it was easy to transfer the balance over.

I trade anything that moves so long as I recognise its pair symbol.

Just got TOB going this weekend.....can't wait to see how this one does.....it sure has a great pedigree...

Re Recovery, please bear in mind the contents of the post at http://www.forexfactory.com/showpost...&postcount=459 and my reply two posts later.

I shall look into this and clear up the code in TOB. In the meantime, remember that a Start_Recovery_at_trades that is not set to 2 might not work properly.

It doesn't apply here if you start recovery at 2 open trades. The bug affects Beastie; looking at the code makes me think that it will not work properly here if users adopt a higher recovery threshold.

People should have Recovery kicking in at 2 open trades; this is how I trade TOB successfully on my live account and only an idiot argues with that. I might just cut the crap and enforce Recovery at 2 open trades, for the sake of my own sanity.
