Today we may or may not see what the rally is made of. We are starting to see Egyptians attacking each other in the streets as Mubarek's supporters have suddenly decided enough is enough.

The army isn't interfering on behalf of either side.

The markets haven't worried too much about this situation - because what bad could possibly come of it?

But we will see - if the violence picks up, and it appears that it's going to, whether or not there is a reaction. Needless to say - the next 24-48 could be very interesting.

That comparison with Rome you posted on Babypips is great.

I get so worked up about how people do not see this happening. Frightening really.

AGREED! I am not going to jack Chris' wonderful thread but I read your post that you later edited 4xAddict and I thought it was just brilliant. With my current situation, I just want to learn to trade so I can be safe after I am replaced at my job due to the color of my skin and the fact I dared to be born a man.

Then if I get good enough, maybe get me and my brother out of the bizzaro world the USA is becoming and start a family else where.

I would hate to leave the USA behind, but the lack of common sense, especially among those born after 1960 or so, is just MIND BOGGLING.

Hi All,

This paper is an interesting perspective.

Points out that while Chinese GDP has been "growing" and their economy "booming", their power output reduced significantly into the end of the year.

Power output, rail freight and a couple of other metrics were acknowledged by the future Chinese premier as a good way to gauge economic growth given their GDP number is "man-made"

Might just hold my AUD shorts from this level.......... they were originally a short term scalp back to the figure.

Funny how quite often economic announcements, or in this case statements, can line up with technical signals. Notice how the market retested this trend line, and today's announcement showed it was "leaning" downward.

I am not taking a position in Gold until the numbers are out tomorrow however the chart is attached.

I hope it reaches my short target for you but I would be careful in that area looking for further gains until 1385 is cleared on the daily.

I wonder though...
Can it still disappoint and make the USD come out on top still? Because I see a lot of bearish signs with other pairs, it would have made sense for them to be bearish if the USD NFP was good, but it didn't do good, so I wonder what to expect of this

I actually don't think NFP was as bad as the number would suggest. I've attached one economist's take on it here. The NFP number is really less important b/c payrolls did change based on poor weather (blizzards here in the states) however the survey going from 9.4% down to 9% does matter b/c even if you aren't paid (i.e. you didn't work) you still consider yourself "employed". I don't think the drop in the unemployment number was from discouraged workers.

Anyway -- if the NFP number was really accurate, I think you would have seen a rise in bonds, which you didn't see following the number (10yr US Treasury yields went from 3.55ish to 3.65%, sending bonds lower in Price). Anyway, I think that this data point is actually pretty good, but just got made completely useless by the noise surrounding weather conditions...
